The Augusta Seed adventure began in 1977 on the family farm in Mt. Solon, VA! Augusta grew the first couple of seed corn crops right there on the Mt. Solon farm. After the first three years in the seed business the production was taken to the Midwest. Today most of the Augusta production is grown just north of Indianapolis, Indiana. The same spirit and desire to produce quality seed, developed and tested for our sales area, is what drives Augusta to excellence today!
The main thread in the Augusta story is more important today than when we started. Independently owned, family operated, with research for the local areas we sell in! Our family business is like your family business. We strive toward excellence and are gratified as we are successful in helping you to achieve better yields!
In 2013 we released the first of a new class of hybrids. We call them the “DOMINATOR” class. This group of very high yielding, strong performing corns represented maturities from 85 RDM to 117 RDM. They bring more yield to the table and better agronomics than previously possible! Advances in technology are always a help but advances in genetics will trump technology in most situations. This is where Augusta is a leader in the seed industry. At Augusta we access our genetics from nearly every genetics provider in the industry! We also find “gold nuggets” from some independent providers. In many cases we are able to cross genetics from multiple organization and have lines that have never been seen by the industry! Advancing genetics through local research…it sets us apart from the industry!
Visit with your Augusta representative or call our office and talk to our staff. You will find that you get answers and information from a family of individuals that want to help you succeed. If you would like to visit with me personally…call anytime! My staff will direct you to me or give you my cell phone number. I love to hear about your farm! Our success is only possible when you succeed! Let’s do it together!

Quick Reference Technology GuideLL - LibertyLink Traited corn. Allows for the use of Liberty herbicides.
RR - Roundup Ready® Corn 2. Glyphosate tolerant corn. Allows for the use of glyphosate (Roundup Ready®) herbicides.
CL - Clearfield corn. A naturally selected herbicide resistance (non GMO). Allows for Lightning/Pursuit herbicides.
CBLL - Provides season long control of corn borer and glufosinate herbicide tolerance.
GTCBLL - Provides tolerance to applications of glyphosate and glufosinate, plus corn borer protection.
RIB - Refuge in bag. In non-cotton growing counties this allows you to plant your fields without having a structured refuge. In cotton growing counties a structured refuge is still required.
GT - Glyphosate tolerant corn. Allows for the use of glyphosate herbicides.
VT3Pro - Genuity® VT Triple Pro®. Provides above and below ground protection from corn borers and rootworms, along with glyphosate tolerance. Also reduces the refuge requirement from 20% to 5% in non-cotton growing counties. In cotton growing counties it reduces the refuge requirement from 50% to 20%.
GT3000 - Triple stack helps guard against corn borer and corn rootworm in addition to tolerance of in-season applications of both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides.
GT3111 - Controls both above and below ground pests such as rootworm, corn borer and ear worm. It can be used with both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicide programs. It also has been shown to preserve grain quality by protecting against mycotoxins.
GT3110 - Controls above ground pests such as corn borer and ear worm. It can be used with both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicide programs. It also has been shown to preserve grain quality by protecting against mycotoxins.
VT2Pro - Genuity® VT Double Pro®. Has multiple corn borer resistant genes that allow for reduced refuge. Does not contain rootworm resistance.

Jack Simpson – Monroe, NC “I used the Augusta 2035 this year to snap for deer corn and I was very impressed. This plant was short, had great dry down and beautiful grain quality. This is a great early season corn.”
Jay Baxter – Georgetown, DE “These new early season Augusta Corns (A2035-85 RDM and A2340-90 RDM) are looking great! I checked the moisture on A2035 on September 3rd and it was running 21%! This corn was planted on May 10, 2014. If I would have planted it first, I would be picking 17% corn on Sep-tember 3rd! The ears have 14 rows around and are in the mid-40’s in length, but the kernels are huge! My popula-tion is 29,000. I will have more of this and have it planted early for the next year so I can hit the early markets!”
A2340GT3000
A2340 has outstanding yield potential for its maturity. It will have very good stalks and fast dry down. We recommend that this hybrid be used in a corn/soybean rotation. It is highly adapted to cold soils and no-till ground.

“I planted Augusta’s 90 day hybrid, A2340, for the first time this year. The A2340 was planted on May 10th and was at 22% on September 2nd. If we would have planted earlier, it would have been dry corn by September 1st. It has short stalks, low ear placement and yields of 200 plus bushels per acre. I am very well pleased.”
Greg Langley – Staley, NC “I’ve had A2340 for 3 years now and I just like it. I can plant it early and harvest it in August as dry corn. It gives me something that I know will dry down and be ready to harvest early.”

Winston Ellis – Caret, VA “We really like the performance we have seen out of the Augusta 2847 for the last couple of years. This year on 200 acres it averaged 160 bushels per acre and had many areas in the field that were well over 200 bushels. This is a great early corn.”
Ronnie Hunt – Calhoun, GA “We like A2847 because we can get started harvesting quicker and get it out early. The standability has been great and it dries down well. It averaged right around 200 bushels per acre.”
David Vinson – LaGrange, NC “The Augusta 2847 did real well for me this year for any early corn. It averaged 165 bushels per acre and had beautiful grain quality. I will use it again.”

A2954 has proven to be an excellent hybrid in both stressed and optimal environments. It has tremendous ear flex, which allows for lower populations on tougher soils, but also good top end yield potential if planted under irrigation or bottom land. Expect good standability and quick dry down. We do not recommend this hybrid for corn behind corn situations.
Millard Dixon – Dover, DE “I have been planting A2954 for 4 years now and it is one of my favorite hybrids. It has great early vigor and big ear flex. I have planted it both dryland and irrigated, and it is yielding as good as my full season varieties.”
Matt Dobbins Townville, SC “I used the Augusta 2954 for a late silage this year and I was very pleased. I could tell this plant had great stress tolerance and the ears had a lot of flex. I would definitely recommend this corn to anyone.”
Tommy Elliott – Delmar, DE “I have planted Augusta 2954 as my early corn for the last several years. This year it came out of the ground quickly and took off growing. It stood well all the way to harvest. It averaged 210 bushels per acre. I am very pleased.”
Calvin Haile – Dunnsville, VA “I have to have stress tolerance in my corn. We were short on rain again this year in our area, but we had cool temperatures. A2847 (97 RDM) and A2954 (104 RDM) are my favorite early corns. I opened my A2954 and split a large field. I couldn’t believe the yields out of the split field. The A2954 was running 230 dry bushels per acre. AMAZING! All my customers need this hybrid!”
Lee Grady Lowry Maxton, NC “I like having some early corn in my lineup and the Augusta 2954 has done real well for me. This year I didn’t have any that went below 160 bushels per acre average and that is great in my book!”
Wayne Smitherman – East Bend, NC “I used the Augusta 2954 for the first time this year and I was thoroughly impressed. It has been averaging between 150 to 175 bushels under stress and I will definitely use more next year.”

“I planted A2956 across the driveway from my favorite 104 day hybrid and the health on the A2956 was substantially better. It out yielded the 104 day hybrid by at least 10 bushels. I, for one, am really excited about A2956.”
Olin Pippin – Barclay, MD “A2956 was the last corn I planted this year. It took off growing and never looked back. It had good health and a great ear. It averaged between 25 to 30 ton to the acre. I am very happy with that, especially considering that it is a 106 day hybrid!”
Chris Slabaugh – Chesapeake, VA “I planted the new Augusta 2956 this year and I definitely want more next year. It averaged 201 bushels at 20% moisture and it was 60 bushels better than a competitor planted nearby. I was pleased.”

Jeff Beard Claremont, IL “I planted Augusta 5658 on April 29, 2014 at 30,000 plants per acre. On September 23, 2014 we completed harvest at 15%! The A5658 is the highest yielding corn that has been on this farm in the 69 years that our family has owned it! Augusta 5658 totally
eclipsed the performance of the competitor by as much as 30 bushels per acre! It was irrigated ground and the weak part of the field yielded 230 dry bushels per acre! The rest of the field yielded 300 bushels per acre! My dad (Wendell Beard, 87) said, “My, Jeff! This is unbelievable!”
Harry Spruill Columbia, NC “I like Augusta 5658 because it is short with low ear placement and has good standability! It is a top yielder for us. Our corn was hurt by excessive water this year but the A5658 still averaged over 160 dry bushels per acre over a couple hundred acres!”
Cheryl Wolford Matthews, MO “This hybrid broke our highest farm average last year with 226 dry bushels per acre. This year it beat our farm average again with 230 dry bushels per acre! I love A5658!”
Douglas Garrett – Rappahannock Academy, VA “I have planted Augusta 5658 for several years now and it has been great corn. Under stress this year, I had a 25 acre field that averaged 220 bushels. I want more next year.”

A5658 is a medium sized plant with medium ear placement. It has great ear flex, so plant at 22-26,000 plants per acre on tougher ground. On good dirt or under irrigation, don’t hesistate to push it to the 30-34,000 range. It has excelled in NC, TN, IA, and IL, topping many of the state trials and independent tests (i.e. the F.I.R.S.T. trials).

A0720 has performed admirably under most conditions, but especially when confronted with the stress of dry weather. It waits on rain and maximizes all it gets. This hybrid takes our A0606 and shortens it by about a foot, plus adds a little more ear flex and girth. For best results, use in rotation instead of corn after corn.
Dennis Rawley with Roger Blevins – Monticello, KY “A0720 is a leading hybrid in this area. It has proven itself year in and year out. My customers like what Augusta is bringing to the table.”
Jim Evans – Bloxom, VA “I really like Augusta 0720 on my Eastern Virginia soil. It is a consistent performer for our tough conditions. It averaged 170 bushels per acre over a lot of acres this year!”
Mark Livers – Morganfield, KY “The plant health in my A0720 was great this year, considering how much disease there was out there. It stood well and put on some decent ears. This is a consistent hybrid.”

A0606GTCBLL 111RDM
This corn has documented 300 bushel capability, but where it really shines is under stressful conditions. It truly is the penultimate go-to hybrid. It is a tall corn, but stands well. Do not expect a flashy plant, but it almost always yields better than it looks. It has a semi-fixed ear, so plant at higher populations for best results.

Some of our highest yields have come from this hybrid. It tends to put 20-24 rows of grain around the ear and has wonderful flex at lower populations. It is medium tall with medium ear placement. It is a good choice for a mid-season silage hybrid. If planting for grain, it is highly recommended that you use a fungicide and plan to harvest around 20% moisture.

A5462 is a 112 day dual purpose hybrid. It is tall and has very good ear flex. Expect good tonnage and excellent feed value. It has very good yield potential as well, which will give you the ability to leave it to shell if necessary. However, due to its size, we highly recommend!
A5562 is a sister line to A5565. It is 3 days earlier and is a very high yielding 112 RDM hybrid. It is slightly taller and higher ear placed than A5565. A5562 has very good standability and excellent grain quality.

A6164 brings plant health, grain quality and standablilty to the table. That being said, it is a great choice for dairy farmers due to its feed value. It will stand a good deal of stress, so it can be planted on many soil types. A6164 is a favorite for ground where leaf disease is a known issue, so river bottom land and continuous corn after corn land will thrive with this plant.

It tends to put on a large ear, whether planted at 22,000 or 32,000 plants per acre. Another bonus is that even under ideal conditions it rarely gets above nine feet tall, while maintaining maximum tonnage due to its ear size. It will be highly digestible feed that cows will really turn out milk from, plus very large and deep kernels which will turn out bushels for grain.

This explosive new titan in the Augusta Seed lineup is a large dual purpose corn that works well for silage or grain. A6866 has very good grain quality and very good standability along with high yield potential. It is the tallest hybrid in our lineup but has medium ear placement. It will have good fiber digestibility for silage purposes. It responds well to fungicide for extended plant health and it is available this year with GT3111, CruiserMaxx Corn 500 and Avicta Complete Corn.
Charlie Marsch & Tyler – Green Lane, PA “My customers have had A6866 for two years now and are seeing ears as big as 18 kernels around and 52 kernels long. When the combine moves from another hybrid into the A6866, their yields are bumping up. Many of my customers have already doubled their orders for that hybrid for next season.”

A008 is medium tall with medium ear placement. It likes to make girthy ears with exceptionally deep kernels. It can stand high populations (30,000+), but it really stands out on dryland in the 20,000+ range. A008 has industry leading numbers for silage and cows really put out milk when feeding on this plant. It is one of our best dual purpose hybrids.

A6867 will bring excellent yields, great drought tolerance and super high test weights to your farm. Expect 60 lb. test weight and maximum yield under stress for this plant. It is a little slower on dry down, so plan on harvesting around 20% for best results. Excellent choice for fiber digestibility in silage.
David, Jacob and Josh Heizer – Middlebrook, VA “We had a very dry season this year but the Augusta corns showed me that they can do well when it’s dry. A6867 held its green life and made a pretty good ear. The silage analysis came back showing high quality. We’ll be planting more Augusta next year.”
Wesley Heatwole – Harrisonburg, VA “We like the performance and digestibility of the Augusta corns. A008 has done extremely well for the last three years. Yield has been running 30+ tons per acre this year.”
Lynn Redd – Zuni, VA “I have planted Augusta 6867 for three years now, and it has been my most consistent corn. This year I had a 45 acre field that averaged 201 bushels to the acre. I was well pleased.”
43
Steve Lee – Madisonville, TN “A008 had a great showing on my farm again this year. I like this hybrid because it not only has good tonnage, but also because the quality is excellent. Mine went 30 tons per acre and I was very satisfied with it. We will plant more again next year.”
Kenny and Steve Weaver – Bridgewater, VA ”We’ve planted A008 for three years and have been pleased with the results. A008 makes some of the biggest ears that we have ever seen in good seasons, but can still makes respectable yields in dryer years. We’ll definitely plant more A008 next year.”
Randy Davis – Philadelphia, TN “My A008 was fun to chop this year. It had excellent tonnage and stood well. It is a dependable hybrid that I can always count on to perform.”

Cheryl Wolford – Matthews, MO “This is our first time trying A7767 and we love it! We really like its consistency and how each ear is filled to the tip. It was the top performer on our farm this year with 277 dry bushels per acre.”
Josh Johnson – Cameron, SC “Augusta 7767 averaged 258 dry bushels per acre (irrigated) for us this year! We had a competitor in the same field average 212.”
Dan McDuffie – Council NC "I used the Augusta 7767 upon the recommendation of my Augusta rep, and I am glad I did. It was considerably shorter than the competitor I planted it beside, and has been the best corn on my farm this year. It averaged 198 dry bushels."
Chris Smith – Deep Run, NC “I used the Augusta 7767 for the first time this year, and it was great. I had a 22 acre field that averaged 240 bushels dry corn. I like my Augusta corn!”

“This is my third year with Augusta and I have not been disappointed yet. We’ve had exceptionally good yields producing high quality silage. I won’t have any problem deciding what to plant in most regions.” Steve Sensenig – Newville, PA
“A6867 has been a great number for me for several years. In 2013 it was the best silage crop that I have ever chopped. This year it was really dry here but A6867 hung in there and made me a decent crop. It’s the corn that I depend on every year to feed my herd.”Ron Roudabush – Mt. Solon, VA

“I’ve seen A5664 looking good in the Shenandoah Valley and Pennsylvania. This hybrid excels at higher populations which makes it a good choice for silage. Also, A5664 will excel under irrigation at high population plantings across Tennessee.”Steve Collins – Harrisonburg, VA
“A5566 looks really good in Dale Knicely’s test plot located at Dayton, VA. It is very healthy with the best green life in the plot. Very consistent ear size with low ear placement.”Mike Plaugher – Bridgewater, VA
“We planted several Augusta hybrids this year and are well pleased with the performance. We also planted a silage test plot with hybrids from six differ-ent companies and the Augusta corns had a strong performance.”Ben SmithCool Lawn FarmRemington, VA
“We were dry this year but this A7664VT3Pro was a good field of corn. I noticed that the corn held its green life and made some good tonnage. We left this part of the field to shell.”John LooneyLakeside DairyMineral, VA
“I planted Augusta 2340 (90 RDM) on July 5, 2014. It looked great all summer and made 29 tons per acre of silage! Augusta corns have made me good yields and quality silage for many years.”Edwin Huffman – Luray, VA

“We were extremely dry here this year which hurt our tonnage. But, considering just how dry it was, I was surprised by how well our corn turned out and we were happy with the Augusta yields.”David, Jacob & Josh Heizer - Middlebrook, VA
“We planted 5 different Augusta numbers this year and we’re happy with them. We rely on Augusta to bring us good hybrids each year and they haven’t let us down.”Chris & Joe Wilkins - New Market, VA
“This was my second year with Augusta. We were a good bit dryer than last year and I’m very happy with the Augusta performance. A008VT3Pro has made us a lot of good quality silage for two years now. I’ll be planting more next year.”Butch Schaffer - Dornsife, PA
“This is our third year planting Augusta. We had A6166GT on the hill behind the dairy and it was a great field of corn making 31 tons per acre. A5566GTCBLL was planted later and we’re chopping it now and it’s making 25 tons per acre. A008VT3Pro will be for earlage or shelling. I’ve been very happy with the Augusta performance.”Jay Debusk - Saltville, VA
“We’re wanting the best green life and tonnage that we can get for our dairy silage. Augusta has done a great job of providing that to us through the years.” Fred & Nathan Smith Stoney Run Dairy McGaheysville,VA
