The persona wonders whether the flautist she was close to is still paying attention to his passion or hobby of playing the flute. She feels neglected and longs for his company. She hears the song, the song that he plays on the flute and which the wind has carried to her heart

The village is quiet and deserted and the rice fields are dry and cracked. The persona is in a place where enjoying the falling rain , the setting sun , dew drops or the fragrance of the flowers is a luxury she cannot afford to have

The persona wonders whether the flautist she was close to is still paying attention to his passion or hobby of playing the flute. She feels guilty to be thinking of him. He does not seem to have an inkling of what is happening to his family, relatives and friends who have lost their work or have been sacrificed in the country`s political upheaval. The world to be changing for the worse.
