WHY DO WE USE ANIMATIONS IN GAMES?
• TOO CREATE A REALISTIC AND AWE INSPIRING ENVIRONMENT WITHIN A VIDEO GAME.
• ANIMATE A CHARACTER WITHIN A GAME.
• GENERALLY ANIMATION IS USED FOR ALMOST EVERYTHING.

• STARTED OFF AS 2D SPRITES
• AFTERWARDS MOVED TO 3D JOINT ANIMATION
• FINALLY MOVING ONTO SKIN AND SKELETON.

2D SPRITE ANIMATION
• SIGNETICS PRODUCED THE FIRST VIDEO PROCESSOR CAPABLE OF GENERATING SPRITE GRAPHICS
• SIMILAR TO CEL ANIMATION OR FLIP BOOKS
• EACH MOVEMENT WAS INDIVIDUALLY DRAWN.

• STILL USE THE METHOD OF JOINTS
• NOW USED FOR THE SKELETON OF THE MODEL
• SKIN IS MODELLED OVER THE TOP AND IS MODELLED OUT OF TRIANGLES
• SKELETON IS INVISIBLE TO THE PLAYER
