MINISTRIES COURAGE TO CHANGE Jason Batten, the Operations Director for the Latrobe St.
Mission, spoke to the Courage to Change meeting Thursday
night. He explained the need for not only giving shelter to the
homeless in the area, but giving hope, help and purpose to
those who are less fortunate than we are. He explained how the
programs at the mission help educate the residents so they can
have a more productive life and be more self-supporting. The
mission encourages the residents to get involved in local
meetings like Alcoholics Anonymous, Courage to Change etc.
They also encourage Bible reading and Bible study. We really
appreciate when others from the community and the
congregation come to the third meeting of the month to support
our special speakers.
LOVE IN ACTION Today is the last day to contribute to Disaster Relief for our
Spring donation. Please help us help others when it seems they
have lost all! We are in the process of downloading all the
pantry data on line. This will help us to keep better records and
hopefully speed the process up. We will be able to share the
stats with all more often. Many of us say we feel inadequate in
teaching others, etc. It has been said that our deepest fear is
not that we feel inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are
powerful beyond measure! With God we certainly are!
H.O.P.E. Beginning in June, the HOPE group will be meeting on
Wednesday evening only from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. During the
summer months, the plan is to discuss different topics every
other week and to have guest speakers at some of the
meetings. If you or anyone you know may be interested in
joining this group of ladies, please contact Sharon McClead.
PRAYER MINISTRY The Prayer Ministry will meet in the Roots classroom on
Wednesday, May 28th immediately following services. This will
be a brief meeting—please plan to stop by and pick up your new
prayer list.

SYMPATHY
We want to continue our prayers for the Justin Roberts’ family. Justin passed
away last Fri., May 9, after an extended illness. Justin served as an elder for
the Belpre Church, and was President of OVU. The funeral was held this past
Mon. in Jeffersonville, IN. He will be greatly missed, but there is great
celebration in heaven as he is home with our Father.
We also extend deepest sympathy to John Hendershot as his great niece,
Hannah Costine, just 22 years old, has taken her own life. Hannah’s
grandparents are John and Phyllis Costine, (John’s sister and brother-in-law)
of St. Clairsville, OH. Please remember Hannah’s father, Eric, and this
entire family in your prayers.
CONGRATULATIONS
We rejoice with Mark and Connie Kaufman upon the birth of their newest
grand daughter. Evelyn Marie Lemenchick was born to their daughter,
Lindsey and her husband, Greg, last Sun., May 11 at 8:58 a.m. This
wonderful Mother’s Day package weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19 inches
long. Extend your congratulations, also, to great grandparents, Curt and
Mary Lou Rector.
THANK YOU
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers I received last week on Mother’s
Day. I am really enjoying them and everyone who comes to my house
comments on how beautiful they are. ~Elinor Gillespie
But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be
renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true
righteousness and holiness.
~Ephesians 4:20-24
