HUNGRY FOR HEALTH
Hungry for Health Nutrition Therapy focuses on
individual nutrition, family nutrition, prenatal and postnatal nutrition, nutrition for infertility, and infant/
toddler nutrition.
Involved in philanthropy with Rise Above It, a non-profit that helps young adults with
cancer, the founder of H4H witnessed first-hand the need for nutrition in the healthcare
system. As the health of many young adults was rapidly declining, H4H was being built with
the determination to prevent such disease through the most natural meals of
health that our body knows, beginning at the first stages of life.
Hungry for Health’s mission is to prevent disease and encourage
ultimate health through nutrition, beginning at the earliest
stages of life. We are here to help you find a way to make
healthy eating an enjoyable family activity.

AGING THEORIESThere are so many different theories on aging. This page
includes three commonly held theories on aging that will help you better understand simple prevention of aging.
The “Wear & Tear” TheoryThe “Wear & Tear” Theory, which was introduced by Dr.
August Weismann, The theory supports the idea that the organs (liver, stomach, kidneys, skin, etc) and cells are worn down by toxins in the diet and int he environment by excess fat, sugar,
caffeine, alcohol and nicotine consumption. Ultraviolet rays and other physical and emotional stresses can also play a part. When you’re young, your body’s maintenance and repair
systems can compensate for the effects of normal wear and tear, and even excessive wear and tear too. With age, the body loses its ability to repair damage. So, elderly people often die because their bodies can no longer resist what they once could.
The Genetic Control TheoryThe Genetic Control Theory focuses on the genetic
programming encoded within your DNA. It states that you were born with a unique genetic code and predetermined tendencies
that result in your mental and physical functioning. The biological clock in our bodies continue ticking until a particular time when that clock goes off, signaling our bodies to age and
die. The timing of this clock aries greatly. Anti-aging medicine can help by augmenting the basic building blocks of DNA within each of our cells, preventing damage to and increasing repair of DNA.
The Free-Radical TheoryA free-radical describes a molecule that differs from
conventional molecules, and makes normal molecules react highly volatile and destructive. The Free-Radical theory describes that although free-radical damage begins at birth and continues until
we die, the accumulated effects are what causes aging. It also creates mutant cells, leading to cancer and death. This being said, some free-radical activity in the body is needed in order to produce
energy, maintain immunity, transmit nerve impulses, synthesize hormones and contract our muscles. The body’s electricity enables us to perform these functions, and that electricity comes from the
unbalanced electron activity of free radicals. When free radicals do attack the structure of our cell membranes, they cause disturbances in our DNA and RNA, and destroy cellular enzymes that are needed for vital chemical processes. This free radical damage begins
at birth and continues until we die. When you’re young, its effects were relatively minor since the body has extensive repair and replacement mechanisms that in healthy young people function to
keep cells and organs in working order. With age, however, the accumulated effects of free-radical damage begin to take their toll. Free-radical disruption of cell metabolism is part of what ages our
cells. In addition, free radicals attack collagen and elastin, the substances that keep our skin moist, smooth, flexible and elastic. The results that come with this are also results of aging- wrinkles and brittle bones.

HORMONES & AGING
Relationship Between Hormones & AgingA decrease in hormones can cause lower sex drive,
impotence, loss of energy, hair loss, decreased muscle mass, diminished vital organ health, decrease in bone mass, loss of vision, mood swings, and a decrease in cognition. So why wouldn’t
we take hormone replacements? It is inevitable. As we grow older, there are many hormones in
our body that will decrease in production, and some may even
cease. Our bodies produce these hormones with a purpose. Today, many of these hormones are offered in a synthetic form to prevent symptoms of aging. While these hormones can help the
symptoms you do not want, they do not necessarily produce healthy outcomes in your body. Before considering hormone therapy, be sure to visit all lifestyle habits to ensure those support anti-aging. These habits include nutrition, fitness, medication,
herbs and mental health. Just because a product is natural, does not mean it is safe for you. Considerations should include the efficiency of absorption and the quality of its ingredients.
Hormones that are produced in the body that can also be produced synthetically are:
• The “Fountain of Youth”: Human Growth Hormone
• The “Grace” Factor: Adrenal Hormone• The “Wonder Drug”: Melatonin• The “Female’s Monitors”: Estrogen & Progesterone• The “Male Motor”: Testosterone
• The “Regulator”: Thyroid Hormone
How can I enhance the production of anti-aging hormones?
There are a few ways to enhance the production of anti-aging hormones. The first is exercise. As you age, your body wants to slow down. If you resist this and continue with physical activity, it will tell you body that it needs those hormones to remain strong.
This encourages production of those hormones. Taking Vitamins and ensuring that you’re getting the
appropriate minerals is a great source of nutrients to ensure
enhancement of anti-aging hormones. Remaining healthy and acting young both physically and
mentally will keep hormone production up. Take care of your diet
and get good rest.

How can Nutrition & Diet Play a Role in Longevity?
Nutrition is one of the greatest weapons against disease, and obesity is one of the greatest threats. The amount of fats, carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, vitamins,
minerals, and water that we consume plays the single most important role in our health.
It is established that the risk of several other prominent age-related
disorders, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes, is influenced by nutrient
value of the food you eat and by the level of food intake. Dietary
restrictions may stave off the onset of the neurodegenerative process. High-fat diets contribute to
obesity, which leads to a shorter lifespan. The proper diet can benefit you
greatly, particularly in aging. A good diet provides the food, water and oxygen that
your cells need to reproduce, transmit
information and repair damage. It assures the body a continuous supply of usable fuel, which improves your emotional stability and energy levels. It helps you to
purge toxins and waste products, retention of which can increase your risk of cancer and other degenerative diseases. A good
diet decreases your risk of cancer, arteriorsclerosis, hypertension, heart disease,
osteoporosis, senility, and depression. It synchronizes your body rhythms, helping you to function physically,
mentally and emotionally at peak efficiency. Finally, it adds years to your life and
helps make those years more healthy, and essentially more happy.
Eating right ix nontoxic, contains enough nutrients and fuel to satisfy you daily needs and consists of foods that are easy to digest & eliminate.
Your diet should contain raw or lightly cooked whole-grains, raw or lightly steamed vegetables and sprouts, and raw
fresh fruit.
