HEVC Contribution links
Live Sports coverage
At the higher bit-rates used for sports coverage the HEVC is expected to give
20 to 30% performance gain over typical MPEG-4 AVC solutions.
Significant reduction in transmission costs
Higher quality pictures in the same bandwidth
High quality UHD (4K) content acquisition
Make multiple live video feeds from an event possible and/or affordable

What about HDR & WCG
High Dynamic Range
(HDR)
HDR can be transmitted over any 4:2:2 10
bit contribution link
(As Ericsson demonstrated at IBC 2015)
CE-HEVC will support HDR (ST 2084) and
WCG (BT 2020) and will also support HLG
back compatible HDR (ARIB STD-B67).
Ericsson are developing techniques for
optimizing the compression of HDR video.
The CE-HEVC is designed to be able to
implement these
Wider Color Gamut
(WCG)
As well as greater resolution and higher
dynamic range better color reproduction
gives a more immersive experience.
UHDTV Phase 2 is likely to include a wider
color gamut than Rec.709 which is the
standard for HD video. The new color
space is most likely to be Rec.2020
CE-HEVC supports Rec.2020
CE-HEVC provides an easy route to HDR and WCG support
HEVC ContributionEricsson is launching an HEVC end-to-end contribution
solution
It is HD and UHD (4K) capable
It has been specifically designed for the contribution market
It offers an easy upgrade path for our existing customers
It has been designed with HDR and WCG in mind
