BEETHOVEN PIANO CONCERTOS

GRAMMYWINNERIn 2015, the STL Symphony received the Best Orchestral Performance Grammy for its recording of John Adams’ City Noir and his Saxophone Concerto. It was a proud moment we shared with all of St. Louis and the world. Without our loyal audiences, the music doesn’t happen. Without you, Grammy Awards aren’t received, nor would their acceptance matter. The STL Symphony is your orchestra. Wherever we go, we represent you in ways that reveal the best of St. Louis to everyone we meet. Thank you to our loyal subscribers who share in this spectacular accomplishment.

As an orchestra acclaimed for outstanding recordings and performances featuring the works of John Adams, the STL Symphony celebrates his 70th birthday during the 2016/17 season. Including his Violin Concerto, On the Transmigration of Souls and The Chairman Dances, the year of celebration culminates with the STL Symphony and Chorus returning to Carnegie Hall performing Adams’ The Gospel According to the Other Mary as part of the composer’s birthday celebration.

54

Building upon those before him, Beethoven dramatically transformed and expanded the piano concerto through his five monumental works culminating with the “Emperor.” These remain adored by audiences for their stunning melodies and triumphant orchestrations. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear all five concertos unfold by the mightiest of composers with the STL Symphony and pianists from around the globe. Presented by The Thomas A. Kooyumjian Family Foundation
