Miguel Alvarez was born and raised in Miami, Florida and is the proud owner of Don Camaron Seafood Restaurant with two locations in Miami and Hialeah Gardens.

Alvarez attended the University of Florida where he received his Bachelor of Science in History and Political Science. He also received a Certificate in Latin American Studies in 1997. Shortly thereafter, he pursued his passion and dream for becoming a restaurant owner and enrolled into the Florida Culinary Institute, graduating on the Dean’s List with a degree in Food and Beverage Management.

As a first generation Cuban-American, Alvarez always aspired to open a restaurant offering an array of seafood entrees with a touch of Miami’s Latin flare. Alvarez continues to provide customers with quality and affordable seafood in a casual environment. Alvarez now has over 14 years of experience in every facet of the food and beverage industry. He currently administers the operations of his two restaurants and a fish market, overseeing a multitude of activities and managing a 4.4 million dollar budget. Alvarez is also the owner of Mialba Food Solutions, which specializes in institutional feeding. For over 8 years, Alvarez has provided meals for medical research facilities, working along side nutritionists and dieticians, following strict dietary guidelines for more than 700 subjects on a daily basis. This segment of the company has also provided nutritional lunches to local charter schools.

Don Camaron has been featured in numerous newspaper articles, such as: The Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald and other local publications. In addition, Alvarez has appeared on several local radio and television stations including the NBC morning news show, South Florida Today with Nathalie Pozo, a head anchor.

Don Camaron also provides professional catering and concession services for both profit and non-profit organizations to support local community fundraising and other events such as: The Coconut Grove Arts Festival; Carnival on the Mile; Mercedes Benz Corporate Run, Calle Ocho Festival, FIU Alumni Scholarship Fishing Tournament and The Florida Marlins Celebrity Golf Classic among many others. In addition, Alvarez is actively involved and serves as an officer on the board of various organizations benefiting the South Florida community including the Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation, Unidos Por Haiti, the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association. Alvarez is results-driven with extensive entrepreneurial experience and a proven success record. He is a driving force constantly looking for innovative and creative ways to push the envelope, expand his horizons and move towards the future endeavors that lie ahead. In 2008, Don Camaron successfully launched its new concept to have an Express seafood service. Adjacent to Don Camarón’s Fish Market & dining area is Don Camarón Express service. This fast food alternative offers a variety of chosen dishes available “to-go”. The concept was created to cater to the customers that did not have time to sit down for lunch, or just wanted to make a quick stop to pick up some food for the family on their way home. The unique featured service that Don Camarón’s Express offers is the customer’s ability to hand pick a fish at Don Camarón’s Fish Market, have it delivered to the Express, have it cooked, and served as a meal. This type of service and attention to detail is what set’s Don Camarón a part from its competition.

Don Camaron has a second location in Hialeah Gardens Don Camaron launched its second location in Hialeah Gardens, FL strategically located right in front of Walmart, one of the highest grossing retail stores in the U.S.

Don Camaron is featured on Channel 6 NBC’s morning news show South Florida Today Don Camaron was invited as a guest speaker to introduce the cooking segment on the morning news show, South Florida Today. He was interviewed by head anchor and rising star, Nathalie Pozo together with the rest of the NBC Morning News Team. The segment consisted of miguel preparing one of his signature dishes, Tres Mariachis (Octupus Ceviche) - a Peruvian Delicacy. After the segment, the whole NBC staff together with the main news anchors enjoyed tasting the delicious ceviche.

Don Camaron’s First Annual Biker Night December 2010

Don Camaron’s First Annual Biker Night Benefiting the Kids & Families Foundation Don Camaron’s First Annual Biker Night, Miami-Dade County Commissioner, Jose “Pepe” Diaz, President of Liberty Motorcycle Association, Rene Sardina along with Miguel Alvarez, Jr. of the Annual Bike Night benefited the Kids & Families Foundation with a ton of toys for children who face the battle with Cancer. Those who participated in this annual event helped the Kids & Families Foundation continue to brighten the lives of local pediatric patients all hosted by Don Camaron Seafood Grill & Market. The Mistress of Ceremony, Jenny Love, performed live at the event alongside with The Bushmen, who introduced the evening.

Unidos Por Haiti Hosts Latin Benefit Concert for the American Red Cross &

The International Rescue Mission

January 2010

Unidos Por Haiti - United for HaitiBenefiting the Haitian Earthquake Victims JANUARY 2010 - Unidos Por Haiti, Inc., in collaboration with Don Camaron & HIT Magazine hosted a benefit concert at Magic City Casino to raise funds for relief efforts for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Don Camaron was moved by the International crisis concerning the victims of Haiti’s devasting earthquake that took place in January 2010, where many were left homeless and desolate. As one of the Founders of Unidos por Haiti, Don Camaron quickly took up the challenge to organize and implement strategic alliances with neighboring community businesses, professionals, latin music artists, celebrities and local government officials in the Miami-Dade County Area to colloborate in this fundraising effort benefiting the Haitian victims. All proceeds benefited The American Red Cross and The International Rescue Committee.

Don Camaron honors students of academic excellence at Mater Academy Elementary Through its Kid’s Club Program Every quarter Don Camaron acknowledges those students of high academic achievement at Mater Academy Elementary in Hialeah Gardens with a Certificate of Achievement, a gift certificate for a FREE Kid’s Meal & Dessert, a picture under our Don Camaron Shrimp Mascot and a medal of excellence.

Don Camaron partners with the Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation to benefit High School Students from Hialeah High School’s Culinary Program As an officer and active member of the Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation, Don Camaron has collaborated with the Foundation to benefit Hialeah Senior High School and Miami Senior High School to support their culinary programs.

Students from Hialeah High School’s culinary program receive pots, pans and other culinary items donated by the Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation and Don Camaron.

Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation The hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation was created to help develop the local students in our community. Our foundation focuses on developing culinary talent in local high schools by providing financial aid and support to the Miami-Dade Public School’s Culinary Program. In addition, we mentor and provide scholarships to young adults who are looking to start a career in the Food & Beverage Industry.

Car Show

Don Camaron’s Car Show Hosted by Don Camaron Don Camaron’s First Car Show was a complete success - from antiques, classics to hot rods that revved their engines loudly. Families gathered around for this spectacular event and enjoyed seeing all types of antique cars, sports cars and muscle cars. There was every type of car you can imagine! Then each guest enjoyed a great entrée at Don Camaron.

Don Camaron wants to continue to feature these cars and would like to invite other individuals or car clubs to feature their cars by hosting this great event every fourth Saturday of every month.
