Mark Prosser joins the Brevard College Coaching Staff in the fall of 2011, coming to the Tornados from Wofford College, where he was involved in all aspects of coaching, including scouting, prep recruiting and film breakdown.

In the 2010-2011 season, the Terriers repeated as Southern Conference Champions and reached the NCAA Tournament. The team was first in the SoCon in assists and also first in assist/turnover margin on the way to a 21-13 record. Wofford also was eighth in the nation in three-point percentage and twelfth in overall field goal percentage.

During his first season back in Spartanburg in 2008, the Terriers set a school record with twelve Southern Conference wins. In addition, the team posted the first winning overall record since moving to NCAA Division I.

In the 2009-2010 season, Prosser helped Wofford reach a school-record 26 wins along with the Southern Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Working primarily with the guards, Wofford was second in the

conference in turnover margin and assist/turnover ratio, plus ranked third in steals.

At Bucknell, the team averaged twenty wins a season over the five years Prosser was on the coaching staff of Pat Flannery. In the 2004-05 season, the Bison reached the NCAA Tournament after going 23-10 and winning the Patriot League title. In the tournement, Bucknell defeated Kansas in the first round.

In 2005-06, the Bison went undefeated in Patriot League play, the first team to do so in conference history. The team was ranked in the top 25 for the first time in school history and featured Patriot League Player of the Year Charles Lee. For the NCAA Tournament, the Bison were seeded 9th and defeated Arkansas in the first round. In the second round they were defeated by Memphis to end the season at 27-5, the best record in school history.

For the 2002-03 season, he served as an assistant coach for the Terriers in Mike Young’s first season as head coach. During that season, Wofford posted a 14-15 overall record, including a 79-77 win at Virginia Tech. In the Southern Conference, the Terriers were 8-8 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

Prosser graduated from Marist College in 2002. He saw action as a reserve forward at Marist before a knee injury ended his playing career. He also worked with the program as a student assistant coach. Prosser earned Street and Smith honorable mention All-America honors at Lawrenceville Prep. He averaged 18 points and seven rebounds per game during his senior season, earning USA Today All-State honors.

A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, Prosser is the son of the late Skip Prosser, who was head men’s basketball coach at Wake Forest and Xavier. He and his wife Emily were married in June 2009 and reside in Brevard. They are the proud parents of their daughter, Ava Grayce.

2011-2012 BC's Record When...

SAC Preseason The Tornados were ranked by the coaches of the South Atlantic Conference to finish tenth in the SAC Preseason Poll. Brevard received 12 total votes in the preseason poll. Wingate led the preseason poll, receiving 96 votes and six first place votes. Wingate and Catawba also received first place votes.

What’s New for BC in 2011-2012 The Tornados welcome new Head Coach Mark Prosser to the mix in the 2011-2012 season. Prosser will have his work cut out for him as he takes over a new roster with a number of freshman poised and ready to make an impact. Gerel Simmons, Hunter Morrison, Taylor Warren, Jonathan Hopper and David Worth all come in expected to battle for playing time right away, while Serbian big men Aleksandar Vasiljevic and Filip Gujanicic look to anchor the BC front court and keep the Tornados among the SAC leaders on the boards.

Preseason All-Conference Gaither Hendrix joins hallowed ground this season, becoming only the third BC men’s basketball player to receive preseason All-Conference First Team honors. The 6-1 senior guard from Lenoir, N.C. joins BC alums Jonathan Whitson and Josh Roper as BC men’s basketball players who have made this prestigious team, and he looks to guide the Tornados to their third consecutive postseason appearance after scoring 14.9 points per game last year from the point guard position.

Single Game Records One of the great things about athletics is that on any given night, a school single game record can be broken by a great performance by an athlete. A list of BC single game records which could be broken will be kept here during the season:

Hendrix drops 26 in late comeback bid against LMU Harrogate, Tenn. - Gaither Hendrix connected on four three-pointers on his way to a game high 26 points, but behind Desmond Johnson’s double-double, the #8 Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters topped the visiting Brevard Tornados in Tex Turner Arena on Wednesday evening, 69-58.

Brevard (4-21, 3-12 SAC) took the lead at 15-13 as Hendrix completed the old-fashioned three-point play with 10:49 on the clock, but Dustin Craig responded with a jumper and Brandon Armstrong followed with a three-pointer on the next LMU possession and the Railsplitters never trailed the rest of the way in recording the season sweep against the Tornados.

Hendrix led all players with 26 points, going 10-for-19 from the field and 4-for-8 from behind the arc as the Tornados shot 43.1 percent (22-51) from the floor as a team. Darius Moose added nine points and a pair of blocked shots, while Michael Gist scored eight points off the bench as the Tornados see their SAC winning streak snapped.

Johnson led the Railsplitters, scoring 20 points and pulling down 14 rebounds as LMU held the 41-25 rebounding edge in the contest. Vincent Bailey added 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting as the Railsplitters shot 29-for-60 (48.3 percent) from the floor in the game. Chance Jones added nine points as 11 different LMU players contributed in the scoring column in the box score.

Bailey and Moose opened up the game trading baskets and Moose put Brevard up early with a free throw as the teams battled through two ties and three lead changes in the first four minutes of the contest. Lincoln Memorial broke the 5-5 tie as Johnson connected on a jumper in the paint and Bailey followed with a short jumper to put the Railsplitters up 9-5 at the 15:22 mark, but Hendrix answered with a jumper and a three-pointer to retake the lead for Brevard.

The teams swapped the lead two more times with Jake Troyli connecting on a jump shot to put LMU up at the 11:17 mark and Hendrix answered on the following BC possession with a driving jumper before Craig tied the game up for the third time with 10:22 to play in the first half with a basket in the paint. Armstrong broke the tie with a three-pointer off the assist from Cam Carden.

Brevard tied the game up twice more as Hendrix hit a three-pointer at the 7:39 mark to tie the game at 20 and Aleksandar Vasiljevic hit a jumper in the paint to knot the game up at 22 with 7:05 on the clock, but Lincoln Memorial closed out the half on a 16-4 run, capped by a three-pointer by Wally Jones as the Railsplitters went into the break with the 38-26 lead.

Lincoln Memorial continued to build on their halftime advantage, going up by as many as 20 in the second half as Johnson hit a jumper in the paint at the 13:33 mark, putting the Railsplitters up 52-32. The Tornados rallied back behind three-pointer by Gist and Hendrix, cutting the lead back to within 11 following an 11-2 run three minutes later as Brevard closed to within 54-43.

Brevard continued to fight back bringing the game all the way back to within nine points following another Gist three-pointer with 1:52 left on the clock, but the deficit was too much to overcome as Armstrong offset a Hendrix three-pointer with a pair of free throws with 38 ticks remaining on the clock to close out the 69-58 victory.

LAST TiMe THeSe TeAMS MeT...Schauss-led comeback falls short in Shuford, 56-45 Hickory, N.C. - Drew Schauss scored 10 consecutive points for the Tornados in leading a Brevard second half comeback, but the Bears led by as many as 20 points in the contest as Brevard fell in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday evening, 56-45.

Schauss led Brevard (2-13, 1-5 SAC) with a game high 17 points as the Tornados shot 27.3 percent (15-55) from the floor in the contest. Gaither Hendrix added 13 points and three steals, while Aleksandar Vasiljevic had six points and six rebounds as the Tornados fell in conference play.

Allan Jones led three Bears (7-8, 3-3 SAC) in double-digits with 13 points as Lenoir-Rhyne snapped a four game skid against the Tornados. Kevin Davis added 12 points and seven rebounds, while Hunter McClintock had 11 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers in the victory.

Hendrix hit the first basket of the game and both Hendrix and Moose hit three-pointers as Brevard opened the game scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take the 11-2 lead at the 15:43 mark. The Bears responded with the next eight points, cutting the lead to one at 11-10 on a jumper by Blackmon with 11:57 to play.

The Bears tied the game up for the first time at 14 apiece on a Jones layup, before Lenoir-Rhyne took their first lead of the contest on a three-pointer by Hunter McClintock from the left wing. Moose tied the game back up with a free throw on the following possession and Brevard took their final lead of the half on an Aleksandar Vasiljevic free throw at the 6:43 mark, putting the score at 22-21, but Bryce Hawkins answered with a jumper to give the lead back to the Bears.

Hawkins’ basket opened a 13-0 run spanning the next five minutes as the Bears went up 34-22 after a jumper from the free throw line by Matt Kunz. A Vasiljevic free throw ended the run, but Blackmon put L-R up 13 with the final basket of the half as Lenoir-Rhyne went into the break up 36-23.

Lenoir-Rhyne continued to press their advantage in the second half, going up by as many as 20 after Jones laid the ball in at the 7:13 mark to put the score at 53-33. Brevard steadily chipped away at the lead, cutting the score back to within 10 points with 2:24 to play on a Schauss three-pointer from the right wing as the Tornados capped off a 12-2 run.

Schauss scored 10 consecutive points for the Tornados during the run as the Brevard made their final comeback attempt, but the teams combined for one point over the final two minutes as McClintock hit a free throw for the Bears as Lenoir-Rhyne held on for the 56-45 victory.
