DESCRIPTION OF TRANSMITTER PARTS
Care for LCD Transmitters in Cold Temperature
In cold temperatures (10 degrees F or below),the LCD on your transmitter may be dim or slow torespond. Wait until the display becomes visiblebefore selecting any training level.
Even though the LCD screen might be dim orslow to respond, when you push the Nick orConstant button, the transmitter will still functionproperly. In the occurrence of extremely coldweather, the LCD screen might take a moment torespond causing the Intensity level to freeze at thatcurrent level. In this situation, if you turn theRheostat Intensity Dial, and the intensity level on thescreen does not increase, yet you emit an electricalstimulation, the level will be in agreement with thenew changed intensity level.
In this situation, it is ideal to either wait untilyour transmitter is back to working order beforeemitting a correction, or while holding the constantbutton down, slowly turn the Rheostat Intensity Dialwhile watching your dog’s reaction. Do not turn theRheostat Intensity Dial at a rapid increase becausethe collar/receiver will emit an electrical correctionbased on the level of the Rheostat Intensity Dial, which might not be correctly reflected on the LCDscreen.
Suggestion: Carry your remote close to yourbody as your body’s warmth can improveoperation and viewing of the LCD screen.

FITTING THE COLLAR ON THE DOG
The collar should be fitted so that theSurgical Stainless Steel contact points pressfirmly against the dog’s skin.
A loose fit can allow the collar to movearound on the dog’s neck. When thishappens, the contact points may rub the skinand cause irritation. If the collar is too loose, electrical contact will be inconsistent andyour corrections will be inconsistent also.
Dogtra uses Surgical Stainless Steelcontact points and Anti-microbial plastic toprotect the dog’s skin.
FITTING THE COLLAR ON THE DOG
36
FITTING THE COLLAR ON THE DOG
ATTENTION!Avoid having the dog wear the collar with
the contact points in the same place for morethan 8 hours out of every 24-hour period.Leaving the points on the same spot forextended periods of time can cause skinirritation. If the dog is to wear the e-collar forlong periods, occasionally reposition the collarso that the contact points are moved to adifferent spot on the dog’s neck.
FAMILIARIZING THE DOG TO THEBEEPER SOUND
Turn the beeper collar on and leave it outsidethe dog’s kennel area for about a half-hour.
Repeat this several times, until you can seethat the dog disregards the beeper.
Next, adjust the beeper volume level to levelL1, the lowest level. Fit the beeper collar on thedog. Select the desired beeper volume level asthe dog becomes accustomed to the beepingsound.
