Points for description Items of Medium to Long-term Plans

NIMS shall maximize the achievements obtained from research and development in our nation, and promote world leading research as well as realize “appropriate, effective and efficient operation” as follows

・ Focus on the research contents concerning global environment problem, social needs and accumulation of materials science research in NIMS. For “Functional Materials research” & “Structural Materials research” aimed to solve actual problems, and “Fundamental Technology for materials research” for new value creating, In the form with NIMS’s (President’s) initiative, 7 area has been set to address these researches, and collaboration between each area, and between industry-academia shall be developed. ・Implement technology transfer by combining variety of open or closed corporations such as PR& outreach activities to obtain understanding from public, promoting utilization of research achievements by preparing database. ・ Enforce our function as a core organization in substances and materials area, conduct sharing use of research infrastructure such as advanced measurement equipment, and develop human resources who might contribute as researchers.

・ Under the President’s leadership, construct organization based on the PDCA cycle, relating to management, which strengthen internal control and management strategy functions.・ Implement healthy and stable financial condition by ensuring incomings from patent licensing, dispose of holding assets, proper maintenance of facilities and equipments.

・ Each area shall undertake seeds development research, project research, public-offering research and collaboration with industry and universities, cooperatively correspond wide range of research phases from creating seeds to social implementation. Implement R&D efficiently. aiming to resolve economic & social problems with problem-solution-type approach, while contributing implementation of super smart society 【Research system & approach to priority measures in each area (text P1and P3~4)】・In terms of visibility improvement, further spread “PR visualize strategy”International collective writing shall be emphasized in order to attract readerhigh-quality license agreement. considering individual technology trend, market size and needs, 【Information transmission of research achievement and Transmitting and utilizing of research achievement(text P11~16)】・Enhance shared use network, and improve variety of support techniques improve education in universities and graduate schools. Promote cross-appointment system tonurture human resources, who able to contribute society as researchers or engineers in industry and universities. Strategically construct global cooperation network..andestablish cooperation scheme to hand over research achievements 【 Activities as a core organization (textP14~18) 】

To Maximize R&D achievements

In establishing research strategy, focus on the content of research based on its long-term vision, understand current situations in research field, based on the National Measures. Practice proper PDCA cycle, and review the validity of research, procedure or target setting at each fiscal year. 【Research management (text P3)】・construct integrated internal control structure and integrate management strategy function 【management system (text P18)】・ Continue to conduct assessment and correspondence on risk that might be obstructive factor on implementation of NIMS’s mission, establish PDCA cycle as a whole. 【Risk management (textP18)】・Based on the revised accounting standard for Incorporated Administrative Agencies, construct proper systems to manage the budget and the performanceaccording to the income per business unit, in the accounting processing of operating expense subsidies. 【Financial management (textP21)】

Approach for maximization of R&D achievements(Sharing use of facilities and Equipments)

○ Develop activity to obtain understanding from wide public considering improvement of awareness, utilizing visual materials effectively to attract public

○Plenty of PR tools, construct interactive environment for easy access to R&D

○ Implementation of information delivery activity with combination of variety of media such as PR magazine、Press-show, mail magazine delivery etc. and promotion activity through open lectures on demand to elementary, junior high and high schools

○ Enhance sharing use network to diversify our supports for user needs, improve support technique, and implement sharing among sharing bodies.○ Contribute nurturing young participants for next-generation who might contribute creating innovation, as well as researchers who can meet variety of support style, , not only viewing facility sharing benefit.
