NOTE

This volume contains appendices to the revised edition of theERIC/SMEAC Directory of Projects and Programs in Environmental Educationfor Elementary and Secondary Schools. Contained are lists, with someannotation, of projects and programs which, for one reason or another, are not reported in the body of the directory.

Approximately 800 questionnaires were mailed in an attempt toprocure reports for the directory; approximately 300 usable responseswere received. These appendices attempt to provide informationconcerning those which sent brief responses (Appendix A), or made noresponse (Appendices B, C, and D). Appendix E lists state coordinatorsfor environmental education, many of whom were instrumental insecuring reports and in making recommendations.

Lists of projects and programs from which no responses werereceived are arranged in Appendices B, C, and D, according to sourcesof information leading to the initial request for a report. Becausesome efforts appeared on more than one source list, they also arenamed in more than one appendix.

It will be noted that no responses were forthcoming from manyprojects and programs. Listing them in these appendices implies nocriticism of their efforts by ERIC/SMEAC; fully understood are themany reasons why no response is made, including problems with themails, being unable to meet deadlines, not wishing to be listed, not feeling that such listing is appropriate, dissatisfaction withthe standard questionnaire, etc. Probably the most common reasonfor not returning completed questionnaires is that directors are infact "too busy"; carrying on the work of the project or programreceives higher priority than filling out a report form. Such adecision will not be quibbled with here.
