Do you know that Japan is a country that experiences many natural disasters? In the past Sendai has experienced many large earthquakes and Tsunami. For the peace of mind and safety of all citizens including foreign residents, make sure you are prepared for when a disaster strikes.

In Japan, evacuation centers open during times of disaster. It is a safe place for local residents to stay. Evacuation centers are located at elementary schools, and junior high schools in your neighborhood.

The Sendai Disaster Multilingual Support Center begins operations in the event of a large natural disaster. The Sendai Disaster Multilingual Support Center sends out disaster and evacuation center information in foreign languages.
