New England Colonies

• 1620 – Pilgrims found Plymouth Colony--Seeking religious freedom for themselves--Do not tolerate other religious groups--forces people to go to new colonies--Mayflower Compact – example of self-government in America --1630—Boston, Massachusetts is founded--establish town meetings to decide local government laws
