1 5 5

Followspot operations

Risk of electric shock, burns from followspot operation. Manual handling risk when assembling gantry followspot. Work at height risk when operating truss spots.

3 3 9

Ensure competency for task by using experienced operators, or training those with no experience. Ensure the correct amount of persons are there to assemble gantry followspots. All truss spots are to wear full body harness with fall arrest AND work position devices. Ensure that the lighting supplier has provided a sufficient inertia reel fall arrester and that the access ladder is in good condition prior to climbing. Ensure that there is a suitable rescue plan in place.

Laid Cables Risk of injury from tripping over cables laid on the floor 2 1 2

Ensure that cables are run in a tidy fashion out of gangways. Use cable ramping wherever possible. If cables are not laid by DNGPEC, then advise the relevant person about the potential for injury.

1 1 1

Lighting Conditions

Poor lighting conditions could cause injury through restricted visibility, either at night, in a dark truck or building, or during a show.

2 3 6

Wherever possible, provide sufficient lighting to work in. If the lighting conditions are out of DNGPEC control, request sufficient lighting from those in charge. For tasks during shows, ensure that everyone is clearly briefed and that hazards are noted before the lights go down. Clear communication is essential in poor lighting conditions.

1 3 3

Long load in distance / stairs

Injury from manual handling of loads which are heavy or have to be transported over distance or other obstacles such as stairs.

2 3 6

Avoid unnecessary manual handling wherever possible. For long distances, use aids such as wheeled dollies, plant, vehicles wherever appropriate. For lifts up stairs, ensure that there is a correct amount of persons to effectively team lift.

Hearing protection to be worn by workers who are expected to work in front of PA systems. PA systems not to be used whilst the event is under construction. Other things that could hinder communication such as MEWP engines to be turned off in key moments that require communication. For unavoidably noisy environments, hearing protection and radio communications advised.

1 3 6

Objects falling from height Injury from objects falling from height 3 4 12

Wherever possible stay clear of where people are working above. Hard hats to be worn at all times whilst people are working above. Workers operating at height must make sure all items are safely attached to them. Put exclusion zones in place under MEWPS when appropriate.

2 4 8

Repetitive lifting Frequent and/or prolonged physical effort or strain causing injury 2 3 6

Ensure that workers have undertaken formal manual handling training so they are aware of the risks from repetitive tasks. Ensure there are enough workers to complete repetitive tasks. Allow workers sufficient breaks from repetitive tasks to reduce the risk of injury.

1 3 3

Rigging being hoisted Injury to the head from rigging equipment suspended in mid-air 3 1 3

1 3 3

Shared working area with other contractors

Risk of injury from being in the proximity of another contractors operations. Risk of causing injury to other workers onsite as a result of our operations.

2 2 4

Toolbox talks to correctly outline potential hazards and areas where other contractors are working. Correct PPE such as hard hats to be worn as a precautionary measure. Work with other contractors to coordinate works to reduce risks.

1 2 2

Substance & alcohol abuse

If a person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, it can affect their ability to work safely, and could also cause potential harm to others around them.

3 3 9Zero tolerance on substance and alcohol abuse at work. Any violations to be disciplined. Awareness of policy to be included in the induction process and toolbox talks.

1 3 3

Team lifting Risk of manual handling injury whilst undertaking team lifts. 2 3 6

Ensure that there is the correct amount of persons to safely use truck ramp for flight cases. Use of steel toe cap safety footwear essential, use of gloves advised.

1 3 3

Use of untrained labourRisk of injury to untrained workers and those around them through unsuitable instruction and supervision being given.

4 3 12

All new workers to undergo a sufficient induction process that includes instruction, training, and on the job mentoring to familiarise them with the environment they are expected to work in. All new workers to be issued with a crew handbook outlining key health and safety information. Workers advised to attain Safety Passport for Live Events card when courses are held periodically.

1 3 3
