Passive: not participating actively.

Immunity: a condition of being able to resist a certain disease.

Animosity: bitter hostility or an active hatred of one another.

Civilian: a person who is not part of the military.

Harass: to torment by repeated attacks.

Retaliate: to attack or assault in return for a similar attack.

Contempt: regarding someone or something as inferior or with scorn.

Rebellious: resisting authority or tradition.

Mountain Meadow Massacre: 120 Arkansas and Missouri immigrants were massacred by the Iron County Militia partially because of the high tensions in the area. (Read page 153)
