First of all, I am truly thankful and thrilled to be cast for the cover of Diva Tú! bridal 2012 Spring issue. Working with the magazine’s chief editor Natty Rios-Sipes was very easy for me because she is such a warm and congenial person. The entire Diva Tú! team was very professional. It was a pleasure to be photographed by Roberto Ramirez, with whom I enjoyed being a model for the day.

Right now I am a full time student at Oxnard college with plans on transferring to a CSU to major in sociology. At the present time I work part-time at an accessory store, where I enjoy helping my costumers. I am the youngest of three siblings, although we all have different personalities, I am so grateful to have them as my family.

One of my perceptions in life is that you can tell a lot about an individual, based on how they treat others. Remember, be patient, be kind, and spread peace.

Neidy Robles is the daughter of two Mexican immigrants, from the lovely state of

Jalisco. She has lived in Ventura County for the past 10 years, excluding her time

at college when she lived away. Just last year she graduated with a bachelors of

science in International Business from Azusa Pacific University. She has been doing

pageants for the last few years including Miss California USA and Miss Jalisco of

Southern CA, the latter of which she was crowned as the winner earning the title

of Señorita Jalisco. She currently works as a model and has hosted several cultural

events both in the US and in Mexico. Proud of her roots and encouraged by her ac-

complishments, she hopes to further her career in modeling and communications.

I am 19 years old and one of the things that I truly enjoy doing is to practice special effects make up, I like to create fantasy features with the art of make up. I feel this could be my long time career. For now I am full time student at Ventura College.

What a ride it has been!

This Spring bridal – Quinceañera issue is brought to you readers as a special tribute to all who celebrate a wedding, quinceañera or even a Sweet 16.

This is such a beautiful season to me, it feels like renovation, a feel of reinventing ourselves. Along with the overwhelming beauty nature has to offer, just look around and you will see

something that tells you is Spring!

Diva Tu! Spring issue presented itself with interesting challenges but everything came painted like a masterpiece by so many collaborators who eagerly commit to greatness and help maintain this publication with quality and refined taste.

Some of the themes here presented in fairy-tale backdrop, like planning the big day, diamonds, champagne, honeymoon location, fitness and featuring a beautiful quinceañera Kiara Gonzalez, also wedding fashion and trends along with prosper-ous restaurants. All are presented to you with dignity and glamour.

This time our COvER model Stephanie proudly displays her modeling experience in a radiant gown from La Soie bridal Santa barbara photographed by Roberto Ramirez.

What actually felt like orchestrating a real wedding was our very special center spread. Where David’s bridal and friar Tux Shop presented their latest fashion. The moment was captured by the experienced photographer Jose Luis melgar who framed the moment perfectly in the beautiful grounds of Camarillo Ranch house.

A very special thank you to all the advertisers who have the trust and commitment in helping make of Diva Tu! a reality. Also full of gratitude to the entire Diva Tu! Team, friends and collaborators. You are all awesome!

Muchas gracias a todos que ayudan a hacer Diva Tu!

DiamondsIn most traditional weddings, a ring is exchanged between partners to prove their eternal love and devotion for one another. Couples exchange rings because of their circular designs which symbolize eternity.

Not only is the ring itself symbolic, but the placement of the ring is also meaningful. The ring is worn on the left hand, on the third finger from the thumb, the “ring finger.” It is believed that the third finger on the left hand is the vein that travels directly to the heart.

Diamonds are revered as the most valuable and indestructible stones. So it makes sense to give your soul mate a diamond engagement and wedding ring that they will cherish for as long as they shall live.

I hope this article was very informational to you and gives you a better understanding of earth’s natural beauty, DIAMONDS!

By Kassandra Romero

As we all know wedding season is just around the corner; the time that calls family and friends together to partake in the union of two hearts.

A wedding is an occasion that arouses joy, happiness, and warmth. What better way to celebrate and add sparkle to a wedding than with a glass of champagne?

Before you decide on a bottle, make sure you visit a winery to try some samples. It’s always good to know and taste the product you are buying, so it meets your standards and satisfies your taste buds.

Here are some of champagne recommendations. Blanc de Blancs which is made out of white grapes, Blanc de noirs made from black grapes, and Rose is a type of “pink wine.” There’s also sweet champagne by the name of Doux and Dry champagne is always white and slightly sweet.

Cheers!

Beauty tipsYou see her, that flawless, beautiful, luminous, bride. For our big day, well we want just that! Luckily, we can easily access information on how to create a flawless face using make-up. (Thank you Youtube). Here are the basics to make your big day flawless.

Prep begins three weeks before the wedding date. Plan to get a facial around this time and start to drink lots of water. It is important to flush impurities out of your system. With all the stress that comes with being a bride, your skin does not have to show it.

One week before your wedding you want to do a clay mask. This helps keep your skin fresh from the facial you got two weeks ago, a big plus for oily skin.If you are on the drier side use a moisturizing mask.

Three days before your day, exfoliate, so that you have your freshest skin ready. So for all you brides here we go:

1. MOISTURIZE according to your skin.

2. PRIME YOUR SKIN, if you have redness use a color correcting primer. This will help your makeup stay on all day.

3. FOUNDATION, use a light to medium coverage, liquid formula that you can layer if you need more coverage but won’t look heavy.

4. BLUSH, I like to use two blushes to layer and hold throughout the day. Use a cream blush first and finish up with a brighter powder to make your cheeks pop.

5. EYES, prime them ladies. Brides today are going for more of a dramatic eye for their day. Keep your colors in the browns, plums, and neutral. You will have a dramatic eye and still have a classic look.

My Fairy Tale Quinceañera

“Since I was a little girl, I knew I was going to have a quince,” says Kiara Gonzales. As the only daugh-

ter, Kiara was given the quinceañera celebration of her dreams.

Her magical day began with a mass in Sacred Heart Church, in the city of Ventura, CA, where Kiara

wore a champagne color gown and a jeweled crystal crown fi t for a princess. Suited for the special

occasion, Kiara’s bouquet was made of white orchids and cala lilies which signify delicate and mag-

nifi cent beauty.

After the ceremony, Kiara and her court of thirteen chambelanes (escorts) made their way in a Hum-

mer limo to the Elks Lodge in Oxnard, where the reception/dance was to happen. The mariachi Estrel-

las de Jalisco, gave her a festive welcoming with the traditional Mañanitas.

At the reception, Kiara , ready to enchant her guests, changed into a traditional lavender quinceañera

dress, costume designed by Elias Fernandez. She danced the traditional vals, then performed the

surprised Tahitian (Hawaiian) dance, dressed in a colorful Hawaiian costume.

The fairy tale theme was brought to life with the center pieces and customized cake. Among the

special decorations there were two types of centerpieces. One was made of a miniature tree, atop a

vase fi lled with white, peach, and purple fl owers. Each tree was delicately decorated with moths and

miniature fairies dangling from the branches. The other centerpiece was an intricate tall vase fi lled with

liquid gel and small color changing lights, which gave an impression of being in a wonderland dream.

Kiara’s cake was custom designed from A Little Piece of Heaven in Oxnard. The fi ve fairies on the cake

were each a different color and were decorated with stars to maintain the enchanting theme.

All in all Kiara’s special big day turned out to be a lovely and spectacular event from the music to the

dresses she wore, to the fl owers, decorations and her cake. Everything was celestial and breathtaking.

As a teenager living in Miami, Florida, debutante balls were very popular. A group of girl friends would join, becoming debutantes and celebrating their debut together. Some were grand affairs involving 90 debutantes, where the elite met and daughters were introduced into society.

How wonderful, I thought, to be able to introduce such an elegant and ex-quisite ball right here at home (Los Angeles). “Once Upon a Time Debutant Ball ” is an intimate, affordable event, where parents are able to make their daughter’s dream come true, by celebrating their special birthday in a very special way.

The Ball is a special event for every debutant, as well as a pleasant memory in her personal life. It provides opportunities to enhance self-confidence, habits of etiquette, make new acquaintances, and other valuable life skills. The Ball is also a joyous event for the parents and close relatives of the Debutantes as well.

The realization of this event is not only a dream come true for young la-dies and their families, it is also a dream come true for myself. Having been blessed with three handsome and wonderful sons, I would have never other wise, been able to produce these types of events.

I look forward with great expectation, the celebration of your daughters’ spe-cial day…. After all, every princess deserves a ball…

When visiting The Alamo Restaurant in Newbury Park, prepare for a dining experience that will keep you coming back to this friendly family-run eatery for more.Every detail, from its clean and spacious dining area to its meticulously kept kitchen is lovingly supervised by owner-restaurateur, Stephen P. Vasquez, who has framed the perfect setting for authentic Mexican cui-sine.From his excellent steak picado to his grandmother’s tortillas de harina, every detail is a touch of gastro-

nomic art. Taste these tortillas, please.“These tortillas are the way my grandmother used to make them,” said Vazquez. “She was from Sonora, Mexico and she did not like corn tor-tillas so she made these tortillas de harina and has continued making sure these are the authentic tortillas.”How good is the food? People come from miles around to his establishment no doubt because of the fond memories the name Alamo Restaurant brings back. The original Alamo was located near the Ventura County Government Center. Vasquez only bought the Newbury park establishment and later opened another one in Agoura Hills.Vasquez, a jovial man with an easy smile has his own memories of that original venue. As a young man and looking for work he answered an advertisement for a waiter position. His inexperience was evident “and I was fired on the first day on the job,” he added. He did not give up. He worked at Sambo’s restaurant in Oxnard and eventu-ally came back becoming one of the managers of the Alamo chain that at one time owned six restaurants in the area.Hit with hard economic times, then owner Robert Campos tried to diversify the menu to attract more customers but it did not work. “The restaurant had everything from Chinese food to Pizza,” he pointed out raising his eyes heaven-ward. “Mr Campos said the Alamo was a California restaurant.” But the menu diversification did not work. “Maybe that is not what people expected because the Alamo had been a Mexi-can restaurant. There is even a nice allegorical tale to this eatery.“In the restaurant, prominently displayed in an enclosed case was the costume John Wayne used during the filming of the 1961 film Remember the Alamo,’ he noted ‘But the costume disappeared sometime before I acquired the restaurant.’And the rest is restaurant history. “When Mr. Campos died, his wife asked me to help her run the restaurant and eventually asked me if I wanted to buy this place,” he said opening his arms as if to embrace the whole venue. I did not have the money, so I talked it over with my parents and we gathered the money among family and friends.”And the success formula was to return to its Mexican cuisine roots including those Tortilllas de Harina from Sonora that abuelita used to make. “My father is very happy to have been included as owner,” and his father, Robert Vasquez, holds court as host of the restaurant that gives this place the zest of the Vasquez clan.‘My father comes from a family of 14 and he is the life of the party. The fiesta does not start until my father arrives.’ A nephew, Christopher Vasquez, son Mark Vasquez, and other family members

serve the tables and operate the register as well as Gary Cabello a family friend “I have known ever since he was in high school.” And this family crew “are all the people I trust to run this restaurant and take care of its clientele.”And even though Vasquez has done his stint as chef whose favorite creation is the steak picado, “now I leave that up to the chefs and do not interfere with them. I taste the food and make sure it is up to par but I let them do their own cooking.’ he said.As to other amenities, the restaurant features a full sports bar with a 52 inch LCD screen where patrons can enjoy Los Dodgers playing while savoring their favorite spirit.Overall, an outstanding experience with specials such as Tex Mex Buffet, Mar-garita Thursday and and enjoyable Happy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m.
