Distributing Srila Prabhupada’s Books : Sep 2012-Dec 2012 Hare Krishna Dear Devotees, All Glories to ISKCON Founder Acarya His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada Please accept our humble obeisances and this update of preaching activities on our side over the last few months.

'The more we sell books, the more we advance in KC'

Syama Kishor, Rajiv and Dinesh Prabhus organized for ISKCON to have a book stall at the India Day festival at the Brightwater Commons in Randburg. The weather wasn't the best early on but the devotees persevered and came together to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books to the souls who attended. The devotees also went out on foot and weren't confined to the stall and used this opportunity to invite interested persons to the upcoming Sandton Ratha Yatra as well. Thanks to Archi and Pam Matajis for bring some Prasadam along which the devotees heartily enjoyed and the remainder distributed in a Food For Life style to some fortunate souls who passed by the book stall. All in all around 170 books were distributed and many souls were touched and their Krsna Consciousness journeys begun. All glories to the devotees for making this possible.

I am glad to hear that you are distributing nicely books and magazines. The more we sell books, the more we advance in KC, and the more we help others to have solid information how they may take advantage of their human form of life and achieve the supreme perfection. 'Sankirtana is the prime benediction for the age'

(Left) This is Tiaan, a work colleague of Luvasan Prabhu. They usually chat about church, the Hare Krsna movement, etc. Tiaan took a liking to some Prasadam cookies and our movement and kindly gave a donation of R500 for us to use for Krsna and Srila Prabhupada. Luvasan Prabhu hooked him up with one of Srila Prabhupada's Science of Self Realization books and a batch of Pam Mataji's Prasadam cookies. We appreciate such responses and it helps us to continue trying to connect these souls with Krsna and Srila Prabhupada. These contributions are used to purchase more books for distribution. Hare Krsna! (Right) Here we see Pam Mataji with Dr Abel from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). He's been a well wisher of ISKCON for a while now and we see him now and again. He's allowed us to leave some of our literatures at their offices and also enabled us to distribute some Prasadam there some time ago. We caught up with him again and left him with a calendar for his office and more books for him to distribute to the patients. May Krsna bless him for his efforts. Hare Krsna.

Be assured that there is no more direct way to preach than to distribute Krishna conscious books. Whoever gets a book is benefited. If he reads the book he is benefited still more, or if he gives the book to someone else for reading, both he and the other person is benefited. Even if one does not read the book but simply holds it and sees it, he is benefited. If he simply gives small donation towards the work of Krishna consciousness he is benefited. December month was quite hectic for us as the Lenasia Ratha Yatra festival was on the first weekend and we were also busy with a Sunday Love Feast cooking turn during the month as well. We made time to join the December book marathon from our side and we visited the Rynsoord, Nigel, Mckenzie Park and Brakpan areas. We went door to door trying to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books and the Holy Names to anyone who would take Them. The pics show some interested souls who gave the devotees a few minutes of their time for which we are most thankful. (Top) The devotees braved the hot sun and marched along armed with books, kirtans and Prasadam. (Bottom) We met this Mataji in Rynsoord and she was eager to speak with the devotees. She said she attended some kirtan programs that the Krishna Balarama Youth Group had and that she really enjoyed them. She asked us to sing the Nrshimadeva prayer before we left and we gladly did so.

It will take some time to convince

the people of this highest

philosophy and the only means to

convince them is distribute our

books profusely. By chanting Hare

Krsna their rough hearts will be

paved. And when we speak about

Krsna it will be shown exactly like

the cultivator who first of all paves

the field and then the seeds are

sewn and gradually they get the

result.

(Left) Here we see Yamuna Jivana Prabhu's family joining in with the Sankirtan. Srila Prabhupada says there's no impediment to practicing this Krsna Consciousness and giving it to others as well, no matter what position or stage of life one may be in. In our society we want to see some ideal householders as you are, so that preaching may go on with great speed. From the very beginning of this movement the associates of Lord Caitanya were all householders. All four of the principal associates; namely Advaita Prabhu, Nityananda Prabhu, Srivasa Prabhu, Gadadhara Prabhu, and even Lord Caitanya Himself—They were all householders. (Above) This is a temple in Nigel which was having a wedding on the day that we visited the Nigel area. We were going along with the Sankirtan and while passing this venue, we were requested to come in and have some kirtan for the guests there. The kirtan was heard over their sound system which was great. We met the sister of our Devahuti Mataji from Lenasia and she and her team accommodated the devotees very nicely, allowing us to chant the holy names with them, distribute some books and served us with some refreshments which we really appreciated. We are not expert at anything but still the Lord arranged for the devotees to vibrate the holy names for the benefit of these souls in Nigel. Hare Krsna. Krishna Kirtana is not for earning livelihood. Krishna Kirtana is not meant for entertaining the public for

demonstration of arts. It is dynamic service to the Lord. We do not therefore mind so much about the artistic

presentation of Krishna Kirtana but we want to see how much a devotee is satisfying the Supreme Will.
