• Lower pressures (<2 bar) allow use of PET packaging
• Air or nitrogen as a propellant (no VOCs)

PROJECT EXAMPLE – Structured Idea Management
We developed Vortik in house, using our experience in drug delivery mechanisms
This spray head allows the customer to vary they spray properties in ways that are not possible in conventional aerosols
The liquids and gas are mixed in a specially designed, cyclonic chamber
Vortik does not require damaging VOCs to work. It uses air
…this delivers a tighter particle distribution than conventional sprays
…..and the spray characteristics can be varied by adjusting the relative pressures
Multiple liquids can be combined at the point of delivery. Swirling and shear perform the mixing

A 3mm cyclone typically delivers 0.1cc / second
A 20mm cyclone typically delivers 1 litre / minute
• Incompatible formulations and actives can be kept separate until the last second
• Ratios of different liquids can be varied in real time
• Particle size distribution can be controlled, e.g. minimising respirable droplets

1. Partially assembled test cartridge is supplied
2. Adhesive cover removed 3. Test cartridge applied to skin
4. Cartridge folded and wet reagents applied if required
5. Cartridge assembled into reader device
6. Reader device plugged into smartphone for data capture
