‘Discover
e-volunteering’ competition
3rd edition
According to the Digital Agenda Scoreboard 2012 regular internet users - those who use the internet at least once
a week – currently represent 67.5% of the population of Europe.
But they’re not only passive users – thanks
to the Web 2.0 technology they can also create the Web. Every day people and
communities share knowledge and skills, give advices, support each other on
forums and do many different things we call:
e-volunteering.
The ‘Discover e-volunteering’ competition was created to promote
and award the best practices in creative usage of the ICTs.
So far, thanks to the competition, we have gathered
over 140 projects
from 31 European countries.
There were more than 240 000 e-volunteers
engaged in such projects!
About the competition
What do we search for? Projects in which Internet users in a voluntary and non-paid way support others, share their knowledge and skills or create something for social good. Projects can fit into one or more types of e-volunteering, but doesn’t have to!
There are two categories: a. for existing e-volunteering
projects,
b. grant category for new corporate
e-volunteering projects.
What to win?
Who can enter the competition? European NGOs and employees co-operating with them, who give Internet users the opportunity to undertake social activities via the Internet by organizing e-volunteering projects.

Winners of previous editions were, among others:
Project that gives people in different ages the opportunity to become the civic journalists. (Croatia)
Thanks to that project people can create a map of places (non)accessible for the disabled. (Turkey)
Self-help group and virtual support on drugs, pills and gambling. (Belgium)
Project allows children in hospitals to explore the world by virtual meetings with travellers, actors, journalists, etc. (France)
On-line campaign on conscious organ and blood donation. (Poland)
Virtual university (including peer-to-peer learning) for teenagers from Lithuania. (Lithuania)

European Partners - local coordinators of the
competition
and Media Partner - partners responsible for the promotion of the competition
Your role: 1. Moderation of the competition.
2. Submission and verification of regional applications,
3. Promotion at the regional level.
Your role: - Distribution of information and promotional materials
provided by organizers.
You can choose, in what way would you like to be involved.

About the Good Network Foundation
We believe that there’s so much good on the Web! We explore and promote the idea of e-volunteering since 2009. We launched the www.e-wolontariat.pl website (available also in English), we organized four Polish and two European editions of the ‘Discover e-volunteering’ competition through which we gathered over 140 good e-volunteering practices (available here: http://www.e-wolontariat.pl/good-practice. It’s the 1st database of that kind in Europe) and created a community of e-volunteers and organizers of e-volunteering projects from whole Europe.
