• Canada is an extremely DIVERSE country, filled with exciting and DIFFERENT places

• Take a moment. Where have you already been in Canada? Think about a place you would like to visit in Canada. What place is it and why?

The Atlantic Provinces

• The ATLANTIC PROVINCES are found on the EAST coast, beside the ATLANTIC ocean.

• The Atlantic Provinces include:1. Prince Edward Island (YIPPPPEEEE!!!)2. New Brunswick3. Nova Scotia4. Newfoundland and Labrador

Atlantic Provinces

• Major activities in the Atlantic (also called Maritime Provinces)– Fishing– Tourism– Farming– Forestry (New Brunswick)

Ontario (The Center of the World)….oh ya and Quebec….

• Two of the largest provinces in Canada, located in the middle of the country

• Home to some of the countries largest cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City

• Toronto is the country’s largest city and Ottawa the capitol of Canada is also in Ontario

The Prairie Provinces

• These are the places found in the Prairie Provinces:

1. Saskatchewan2. Manitoba

Prairie Provinces

• Major Activities– Farming (Wheat, Grains)

West Coast Provinces• These are the places found on

the WEST coast of Canada, beside the PACIFIC ocean.

• BRITISH COLUMBIA is known as the West Coast of Canada

• Also, Alberta is also considered to be out west

West Coast Provinces

• Major Activities– Oil (Alberta Tar Sands)– Business (Vancouver)– Mining

The Territories to the North

• Yukon

• Northwest Territories

• Newest Territory, Nunavut

Canada: A Nation Since....

• Canada came together as a country on July 1st, 1867.

• Before this, we were a colony of Great Britain (England)

• We provided supplies, materials, money and labor for the “Mother Country”

• After confederation, and today, we continue to have a close relationship....we see this played out in history
