MOUNT KENYA EXPEDITIONTHE CLIMB OF A LIFETIMEMount Kenya is Africa’s second tallest mountain standing at over 5,000 metres. Kenya itself is named after the mountain (not the other way round) and for years now, endurance hikers and mountaineers have been heeding the mountain’s call and heading for its summit.

You will begin your ascent via the Naromoru route before embarking on two further days hiking through the Alpine Moorland Zone. On the third day, you will wake at 3am in order to reach summit Point Lenana by sunrise. At the very top, astonishing views of Mount Kilimanjaro are available on a clear day. Along the way, climbers will visit the burial site of Baden Powell and cross the equator.

The Mount Kenya climb is a great option for the seasoned explorer and the amateur traveller alike. Should you take the challenge, you will climb 12-15km per day seeing all of the incredible sights along the way. So, if you have ever wanted to see the sunrise at 17,000 feet, or retrace the steps of some of the world’s greatest explorers, then be sure to sign up to a Mount Kenya climb as part of your trip. Mount Kenya is your chance to climb Africa’s second highest mountain and tick a remarkable achievement off the bucket list.

Mount Kenya has three summits which are each named after Maasai chieftains: Batian, Nelion and Leleana.
