WHY DO PEOPLE IMMIGRATE ?Moving to a different country with different
culture and norms can be quite dauntingThere may be the additional pressure to
earn enough to liveBetter living conditions, job opportunities ,Due to conflict or to escape persecution
and prejudicesThey can include famine, war, disease,
lack of jobs, over population and drought
A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE DEVASTATION OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY CAUSED BY THE CURRENT FORM OF GLOBALIZATION

PULL AND PUSH FACTORS
PUSH FACTORS :-FAMINE, WAR, DISEASE, LACK OF JOBS, OVER POPULATION AND DROUGHT
PULL FACTORS:-FREEDOM, FAMILY, TECHNOLOGY, BETTER JOBS, BETTER EDUCATION.

EFFECTS OF IMMIGRATIONImmigration can have positive and negative impacts on both the host (recipient) country, and the original country.
![Page 8: Dilemma of immigration](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042613/54c19ffb4a7959df308b458c/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
BENEFITSCountries, immigrants offer various benefits such as the following:• Immigrants will often do jobs that people in the
host country will not, or cannot do;• Migrant workers often work longer hours and for
lower salaries, and while that is controversial, sometimes exploitive, it benefits the host country;
• Immigrants, when made to feel welcome in the host society, can contribute to the diversity of that society, which can help with tolerance and understanding;
• For the host country’s economy, immigrants offer an increased talent pool, if they have been well educated in their original country.
![Page 9: Dilemma of immigration](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042613/54c19ffb4a7959df308b458c/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
DRAWBACKS• Immigrants can be exploited for their cheap
labor;• Developing countries may suffer “
brain drain” as the limited resources they spend in educating their students amount to very little if that talent is enticed to another country. (The UK for example is often accused of actively hiring medical staff from developing countries. The previous link details this issue further.)
• Immigration can also attract criminal elements, from trafficking in drugs and people to other forms of crime and corruption;
• Immigration can become a social/political issue, where racism can be used to exploit feelings or as an excuse for current woes of local population;
• Immigrants and refugees appear to get more benefits than local poor people, tensions and hostilities can also rise

Agricultural Impacts of
Immigration

IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE IN IMMIGRAT COUNTRIES• Farmers do not want to use legal
immigrants because they have to be paid more and their labor conditions are monitored. Illegal immigrants do not have to be paid much and do not have any legal rights in this country, which means they are not protected from harsh labor conditions.
• If illegal immigrants were removed, legal immigrants would be the main option for farmers, because most Americans want office jobs or jobs with less manual labor.
• This would force farmers to pay their workers more and they would be forced to become more mechanized then they are now.
