DIGIPAK

A digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic

holder for one or more discs. Though people can simply download music online in today’s era, a digipack is to

promote the artist’s album, to list the songs in the content of the album, allows the artist to share more

about their self and behind scene of the album.

Lastly from my research I found out how the use of a digipak has evolved to appeal its audience by sending a

message through the art of the digipak, offering additional and exclusive gifts in the digipak such as a

poster.

RIHANNA LOUD DIGIPAK ANAYLYIS FRONT COVER & CD

The album name almost takes up a third of

the page to catch the attention of the

viewers the soft and delicate font suggest

the album will be romantic. In addition to

this the creamy colour adds the romantic

theme. Moving the name of the album ‘LOUD’

almost pronounces how well-known Rihanna

is in the music industry.

The font cover of

Rihanna Loud’s digipak

shows the name of

artist. Comparing the

font size of the name of

the album and the artist

name, we see the album

name is bigger than the

artist name, emphasising

the artist does not need

a big statement to stand

out and that she is

well-recognised by her

star image.

The main image is features Rihanna. The image

covers the whole front cover emphasising the

importance of the main artist. The physical

appearance of Rihanna is very sexy as this

shown in her red lipstick and her sassy red

hair. The ideology of her red hair is to

portray her confident and fearless, which

challenges the stereotype of R&B females

being portray as vulnerable and sexually.

Rihanna’s is also portrayed as serious as we

see some of her teethes.

The dominant colour of

the alum cover is red.

The colour red connotes

energetic and fiery.

RIHANNA LOUD DIGIPAK ANAYLYIS INSIDE SECTION AND BACK SECTION

Inside the Loud Rihanna digipak holds a

3 section jointed image of Rihanna

leaning on a bush of flower. The red

flowers emphasises the romantic and

fierce theme in the album.

The way Rihanna is portrayed in this

section inside the digipak is in a sex

appeal manner and vulnerable as her dress

shows off her cleavages and she is shot a

sight high angle. This reinforces the

stereotype of R&B females being portrayed

in a sexual manner and vulnerable. The red roses

connotes affection,

passion and

romance.

RIHANNA LOUD DIGIPAK ANALYSIS

the top which is usual,

this almost express her

distinctiveness.

Back section of Drake

digipack holds a list of

tracks involved in the LOUD

album. The back section is

very effective as the white

font complements with the

dark background.

The sex appeal theme

section of the digipak

to the back as Rihanna

mode address on this

shot to almost make

her fans feel

connected with her and

personal.

DRAKE TAKE CARE DIGIPAK ANAYLYIS FRONT COVER

Album name

Main artist image

The album name font style is very dedicated and

scripted in such a romantic style, this may

connotes the album songs are emotional.

The name of the artist is a convention in a

digipak font cover though this is invisible on

Drake digipak font cover . This may connote that

the artist is so well-known that he does not

need a big statement for people to know who he

is and that his star image is distinguished as

his image covers the whole album cover.

The main image is of the artist and has been shot at a

medium shot. This may connote the artist is secretive as he

is not showing his full identity and makes the artist rouse

to want to find out more about Drake. Adding to this the

shot is almost shot at a high angle which portrays him as

vulnerable.

In addition to this, Drake’ costume is of dark shirt which

shows off his chest and masculine appearance. The idea of

black connotes power and authority. This reinforces the

stereotype of male rappers, as they tend to be represented

as confident.

Drake’s body language and pose is quite emotional as he

presented with his arms crossed and facing down towards the

table with his eyes closed. The idea of portraying Drake in

weak and emotional manner challenges the stereotype of male

rappers, as they tend to be represented as confident.
