Digital Humanities 2019 (DH 2019)
This paper introduces our system, which is called ‘Knowledgebase of Historical Resources in Institutes (khirin).’ As one of the khirin’s prospects, we show that disseminating scientific information of historical resources can
promote advanced collaboration between relevant Japanese and international research institutes.
Information Infrastructure “khirin “at the National Museum of Japanese History (NMJH)
[Available contents]• NMJH’s museum materials• Rekimin cards (Survey card catalogues of archaeological, historical, and
folklore resources in 1970’s Japan)• Reitokaku-shukocho (collection of old drawings and written records compiled
by the Yoshida family in the eastern part of Kobe City in Hyogo, Japan)• NMJH’s “Nishikie” with more detailed metadata• Collection of Machino clan's historical documents (Chiba University Library)• Collection of Goto clan's historical documents (Naruto University of
Education Library)• A comprehensive study of historical materials on history of East Asian
exchange in medieval Japan

The preliminary studies have analysed the morphological features of materials.
BUT…• Detailed scientific analyses are rarely
conducted• Numerical data is less likely to be shared
Historical paper resources have been examined in palaeography, history, and the conservation of cultural property.
