Youth Church kicks off this Sunday 23 February in the Cathedral. Sunday nights 6pm–7.30pm. Don’t be fooled by the name – you are most welcome to come and join 100 other people in worshipping in the Cathedral. In fact this year we are looking for more adults to come and be part of it.

Parish Electoral Roll The parish has both a general pastoral roll and an electoral roll. You need to be on the electoral roll in order to vote or speak at our parish AGM. To qualify for enrolment you have to be baptised, not on the electoral roll of any other parish, and have participated in the worship and life of this parish for at least four months within the previous two years, (or be known by the vicar and wardens to be qualified). To enrol, please sign the declaration form at the back of the church. A copy of the current electoral roll will be available at the back of the church next week, and if you are already listed, you do not need to sign again.

The AGM for the Parish of Lower Hutt will be held at St James at 11.45am on Sunday 29 March.

Annual Reports required Reports are requested from every group of the church for the year ended 31 December 2019 for the 2020 Annual Report. This is your opportunity to let the church know what your group achieved or needed during the 2019 year.

The Annual Report will be produced early March. The report of the 2019 activities of your group is required by NEXT SUNDAY, 1st March. Producing the Annual Report takes considerable office time, so it would be appreciated if reports could be submitted to the office as soon as possible ([email protected]). Thank you.

Book Fair news!

Book Sale days: 28 February 2020 : 5-9pm

29 February 2020 : 9am-2pm. Thank you to those people who have put their name on the Book

Fair roster. Each year we hold two Book Fairs and they

contribute significantly to our fundraising.

Most of the effort is in setting up and putting away the books and

the more help we have the quicker it gets done. If you can spare

some time on Thursday or Friday to organise books or on

Saturday at 2pm to put books away we would love to see you.

I also need some strong people to put out the trestles and boxes of

books on Wednesday evening. Check out the details on the back

wall of St James’ or call me on 021 515 943.

Thanks, Amanda.

We each have a daily routine which ensures that we are fed and clothed and clean and ready to fulfil our responsibilities. It’s good to also include some

time each day to reflect with God and the Scriptures to ensure that we are nourished well to be God’s people in our everyday world.

Please stay for a cup of tea or coffee at the conclusion of the service and chat to others who worship here.

And this evening, at 6pm, Youth Church (for all ages!!) recommences at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, Molesworth Street, Wellington.

St James’s Church 8am service and All Saints’ Church 9am service

Last Sunday, at the Suzanne Duncan service at 10am, Caro Willis preached on the theme of hearing God’s voice. Her sermon was so helpful and practical that I would like to refer to parts of it in my sermon today. Caro chose John 10:1-10 as the Gospel passage last week. In this passage we find the beautiful image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd with his sheep. He calls his own sheep by name, he leads them out, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. Caro posed the question, “How can we hear and know God’s voice in the quiet times and the busy times?” I would like to reflect further on this question at our 8am and 9am services this Sunday. Remembering those who worshipped at Holy Trinity, Avalon

It was a year ago that those of you who worshipped at Holy Trinity, Avalon, had your last service there. We share in the sadness of your ‘Good-bye’ and express our gratitude for your ongoing contributions to this parish. We hope that you will continue to build your ‘home’ here in this faith community.

We have been created to know freedom and to live in pure relationship with God, one another and creation. But we don’t always live in that way. We often fracture these relationships, placing ourselves in bondage. This Lent, let us gather to learn

how repentance can restore us to a place where we know the freedom God intended for our lives.
