Principal’s Report
It was really exciting this week to
hear that we will be welcoming our
students back to school in the near
future. We cant wait to fill the corri-
dors with the sound of our PHPS stu-
dents again and see everyone work-
ing away in the classrooms.
Of course, this will look a little differ-
ent with a few restrictions and pre-
cautions in place. These are outlined
in the letter which was sent home
this week. I have included another
copy of this in this edition of the
newsletter.
Thank you to all of our parents and
carers for all your support during
these past few weeks of remote and
flexible learning. You have been
amazing and the staff and I are most
appreciative.
SCHOOL COUNCIL REPORT
On Monday the School Council met
via Webex.
During the meeting we discussed:
Fundraising—one of our major
fundraisers was scheduled to be tak-
ing place today!
We had started preparations for a
colour run to be held on the oval. We
discussed that we will step back this
year from undertaking too many
fundraising activities as we feel that
due to the financial stress on many,
this is not the time for fundraising.
However, we would love to get eve-
ryone together in some way when
we can, simply to enjoy each other’s
company again and have the chance
to support each other. We will let
you all know when we can organise
something.
Remote Learning— the general feel-
ing from the parents who chose to
respond to the survey was that alt-
hough the situation is very challeng-
ing, the efforts of the school staff has
been much appreciated. Some com-
mon concerns came through which
have been addressed.
Reports—the school will provide
school reports for this semester.
However due to the nature of this
term, they will look quite different to
regular reports. We are still waiting
on Department guidelines to finalise
the format.

port and respect children, as well as staff and volunteers.
Annual Report and AGM—due to the demands on Principals at the moment the Department has extended the
due date for school’s annual reports to the end of August. However, the annual report has just been finished so
the AGM can be called at the next meeting.
School photos— We had a query about when the school photos will be received. The company has been contact-
ed and they have advised us that there has been a delay with the delivery. Parent members also mentioned that
they were disappointed that they were not given the opportunity to select images as they have in the past. This
will be followed up with the company.
Follow up: since the meeting, we have rung Aussie School Photos. Following our inquiry about the selection of the
photos we were informed that they have been bought out by another company in NSW who have different process-
es. We will retain this on the agenda for discussion. If you would like to have some input into this discussion, please
speak with one of our school councillors or the office.
MOTHERS DAY JUNKBOTS Following on from last week’s quest. Here are some more robots created out of recycled materials made by Brid-
get and Charlotte Friede. They made a fantastic Mothers Day present. Fantastic effort!
What challenging times we are facing! With school tours not possible in May, I would like to direct you to our website for a host of information about our wonderful school.
www.warrandytehigh.vic.edu.au Here you will find a plethora of information including a series of short videos which will help you to gain a sense of War-randyte High School. One of our videos features the Principal and several students showing you around our beautiful school. It is kind of like a virtual tour of the school.
You will also find on our website short videos where you can hear from the Principal, Assistant Principal, Transition Coordina-tor, current students and our former Dux who is currently studying Engineering and Science at Monash University.
The school prospectus is also fully available on our website along with a host of exciting information!
If you have any questions, I would love to hear from you. You can email me at: [email protected] or at [email protected] Stay safe and kind regards, Joseph Caruana, Assistant Principal, Warrandyte High School

FLYING THINGS
Well done to all of the students who participated in
this week’s Grade 6 Assembly Quest of taking a photo
of a ‘Flying Thing’. It is clear to see that we have
some budding photographers at PHPS.
JUNKBOTS
Great work Xzavier on building a very colourful Ro-
bot. Xzavier’s robot is on display outside the office,
so look out for it when changing your learning packs.
