Taronga Zoo-Parent Reminder

and Information

Tomorrow K-2 set off on their exciting excursion to the Zoo. I know all children in all classes have been count-ing down the days. Well it has finally arrived and I am sure it is going to be a great day for everybody who is going. All children need to be in full school uniform. They will need to bring a strong plastic bag with their first name and class on it. They will need lunch and re-cess in plastic wrap or small lunch bags they can throw away. Please pack two drinks, a bottle of water and a poptop or popper would be great as the children can dispose of rubbish when finished. This saves tired little arms carrying around lunchboxes and drink bottles all day. If your child wears a jumper or jacket please dou-ble check their name is on it to save it getting lost. All children will need to be at school at 8.30am. The bus is leaving at 8.45. This will give us more time at the Zoo. Please make sure your child is at school at 8.30am as we cannot wait for any children that are late. If your child gets car sick can you please let their class teacher know in the morning. Lets all hope for a beautiful sunny day. Mrs Melissa Eccleston

Glenfield’s got Talent

Congratulations to all the students who participated in Glenfield’s Got Talent. Monday night was a fun filled night for both the community and students of Glenfield Public School. The daytime judges handed their winning acts over on Monday afternoon to be announced in the evening show with the following results: First Place and Winner of Glenfield’s Got Talent: Adonis as “The MJ Man” Second Place: Godwin as “The Rated Radical Drum-mer” Third Place: Addreta as “The Little One” Highly Commended - These acts were selected as being exceptional : 1. Julia, Matthew and Godwin as “Miami Crew” 2. Nandita and Charlotte as “The Rainbow Girls” 3. Amisha as “The Poet” 4. Rose, Jasmine, Elijiana and Simran as “Elena”

A huge thankyou to the P and C for providing the sau-sage sizzle and drinks, and to the SRC for organising the lolly bags. Thank you to all the staff of Glenfield Pub-lic School for supporting and accommodating all the or-ganisation leading up to the performance. Lastly thank you to all the students who performed and allowed us to showcase the talent our students most definitely pos-sess. R.Schroder

Regional Athletics Congratulations Claudine who will be representing the Sydney South West Region in the upcoming STATE Ath-letics Carnival in high jump next Thursday. It is extremely rare for students to reach such a high standard. This out-standing achievement goes down as a significant highlight of the sporting year. All of Glenfield PS is very proud of you!

All 12 representatives performed admirably against elite competition in last week's Area Athletics carnival. You all should be extremely pleased with your achievements.

John Eccleston—Glenfield Athletics Coordinator 2012

K-2 Dance Group

There is now a K-2 dance group with students who were interested in joining meeting with Miss DeGiorgio. Practice sessions for the group will be on every Friday at lunch time in the hall. There might be other incidental practices during some other lunch times. Miss DeGiorgio

Stage 2 Public Speaking Competition

Congratulations Antriksh who will be representing our school in the public speaking competition in term four. His performance was exceptional and it is refresh-ing to see such a talented student perform in such a ma-ture manner. He certainly made us all 'speechless' (no pun intended).

The 6 finalists from each of the Stage 2 classes (Vanessa, Aroshi, Bani, Andrew, Sadit and Antriksh) per-formed admirably in last week's public speaking shootout in the hall. You all should be very pleased with your efforts and we hope that you continue to refine your skills in the future. Our debating teams in the next few years are looking sound.

John Eccleston
