    DescriptionOverburden

Basalt-Pillowed-fine grained, light to medium green, moderately hard to hard(scratches with difficulty). Pillows are marked by softer weaklychloratized calcitic selvages. Locally the pillows are weaklybleached. Calcite occurs as small randomly oriented veinlets^mm and as larger dark grey to black veins to 0.5cm and aschaotic small veinlets. Quartz is as 1-2cm dark grey veins ^.5cmand as infrequent light grey to white glassy masses associatedwith selvages. Sulfide mineralization is nil except for a minorveinlet of pyrrhotite *:lmm wide at 54.5m (45 deg to core axis)associated with possible graphite vein ^mm.

Basalt-(Pillowed?)-fine grained, pale to medium green as above but locally siliceousThe unit contains veins to 40cm generally 1 0-20cm and masseswhich are black, cherty, carbonated (calcite) and possibly graphiticThese veins as at 73.9-74.3 have random contacts i. e. uppercontorted, lower 20 deg to core axis, sharp. The calcite isdisseminated and also occurs as masses of nodules. This may

    AssaysSample #

occur in pillow selvages or in random dilations. The vein described abovecontains two nodule clusters of pyrite grains. These black veinsoccur at upper and lower contact of the unit-73.6 to 75.9; 80.5 to 83.9.

DescriptionThe lower sections contain fragments of the basalt to 1 cm.

Basalt - fine grained, pale green, massive with small dark green chlorite specks to sO.Smm and small calcite grains.

Mafic to Intermediate Volcanicfine to medium grained, medium to dark grey green upper to medium green grey lower section. The unit appears medium grained due to grains of calcite,

small nodules of chlorite and grains of feldspar. Dark blackish calcite /quartz veins occur throughout the section randomly oriented. Chlorite veins along fractures 40/80 deg to core axis. Quartz veins (3) to 2cm, glassy white, occur in upper 5m.

Basalt-Pillowedfine to medium grained pillow with selvages containing small fragments, calcite and local chlorite knots.

Basaltfine grained, pale to medium green, massive with nodules < 1 mm, clots of chlorite, calcite vesicules < 1 mm and small veins of blackishquartz/calcite. Up to 1cm nodules of glassy quartz occur randomly.

Intermediate Volcanicfine to medium grained, pale to medium grained, with grains of calcite. Fracture related chlorite 10/40/60 to core axis. Lower 1m is weakly brownish in colour.

Graphite Zone This zone is a mixture or fine graphitic argillite, heterolithic breccia/ fragmental and mafic volcanic, possibly tuff.

From To Description Sample # From To129.9-136-Graphitic Argillite

fine grained, black siliceous, calcitic graphitic argillite. This unit forms a sharp contact with the above at 60 deg to core axis. The unit is hard and contains S-8% pyrite as clusters in calcite nodules, pyritic nodules to .5cm and < .5cm discontinuous contorted veinlets. Calcite as nodules irregular veins and 2mm veins, white.

136.0-143-Graphitic Fragmental medium to coarse fragmental of cherty and basaltic fragments supported by graphitic ground mass probably consisting of the same. The cherty fragments are dark black, angular, forming the majority with the basltic fragments pale green and angular to diffuse. Sulfides are nil to trace/minor pyrite.

143-143.75-Graphitic Argillite as above with calcite veins to 1cm 60 deg to core axis, S-5% pyrite.

143.75-146.7-Mafic Volcanic fine grained, pale green, massive.

146.7-154.0-Argillite-Graphitic Argillitefine grained, silicified, weakly to moderately graphitic. Calcite occurs as small veinlets to 1cm 50 deg to core axis as 2mm irregular veinlets. Pyrite 1-20Xo overall, locally 50X0 as disseminations and small veinlets, pyrrhotite occurs below 150m as blebs to 1cm infrequent and small veinlets. Minor whitish grey quartz veins.

154.0-157.7-Mafic Volcanic-Tuff fine grained, pale green, featureless with pyrrhotite to S-5% as disseminations, pyrite S-5% as disseminations, possible trace chalcopyrite.

157.7-163.8-Graphitic Fragmental fine grained, black matrix hosting black siliceous fragments of graphitic argillite, medium grey to black calcitic fragments and minor fragments of overlying mafic. The unit contains pyrite 307o, local ayrrhotite as disseminations and in the lower 2m pyrrhotite occurs as veins 60 deg to core axis and pyrite locally as nodules or clusters of grains (S-8% total sulfides).

163.8-164.4-Graphitic Argillite fine grained, black layered/bedded-50 deg to core axis with weakly veined pyrite/calcite.

Mafic Volcanic-Tufffine grained, medium green, generally fractureless tuff with minor quartz, quartz graphite veins. May have weak "layering" at 169.5m at 60 deg to core axis.

Fragmental Tuff/Tuff Brecciafine grained, medium grey green matrix hosting fragments to 1.5cm generally 0.2 to 0.6cm, sub-angular to sub-rounded. Fragments are pale grey to grey, cherty in nature to siliceous pale green which are less obvious because groundmass is the same composition/colour. One larger fragment occurs at 180.8-180.85-pale green siliceous mafic, angular. Unit is weakly to moderately calcitic. Matrix of unit may be weakly chloritic and contains minor nodules of chlorite.

Intermediate to Felsic Fragmentalfine grained, medium to dark green, green grey quartz/feldspar matrix hosting small fragments iO.Scm pale green siliceous, minor cherty appearing fragments. This unit maybe a finer grained equivalent of the above with the darker green colour due to the reduced size of the pale fragments. Locally the unit appears to be "bedded" or layered
