Dr. ManpreetMalik, Dr. ReenaHemrajani and Dr.
Paletta-Hobbs’s abstract,Challenges and Progressin Faculty Development inGeneral Internal Medicine was accepted into theSociety of General InternalMedicine’s (SGIM) AnnualMeeting. The abstract
hones in on the struggles medical centers haveto create programs to help develop their facultyinto more well-rounded professionals including:the broad interests of faculty, lack of researchexperience, extensive competing clinicalresponsibilities, and institutional challenges thatexist in complex systems. This presentation is unique because it focuses onhow the relatively new DGIM Faculty DevelopmentCommittee (FDC) is making strides to tackle theseissues to help faculty grow by:
• Promoting academic productivity andfacilitating promotion and tenure
• Enhancing provider engagement andsatisfaction
• Facilitating mentor-mentee relationships
The acceptance of this abstract by the nationallyand internationally renowned SGIM Annual
