Density Cont’d If an object is more dense than the fluid in which it is immersed, the object sinks. If an object is less dense than the fluid in which it is immersed it floats to the surface. If the density of an object is equal to the density of the fluid in which it is immersed, the object floats at a constant level.

Example of DensitySubmarine – Density decreased when water is pumped out of floatation tanks and the overall mass of the submarine decreases = density decrease = submarine float to top. To dive, the submarine takes in water = increase mass = increase density = sinks.
