This product also features Scotchgard™ Protector from 3M for added protection against black streaks caused by algae.

PROTECT FROM EXTREME WEATHER

Impacts to a roof from extreme weather can reduce the life of a shingle and lead to water damage. Class 4 shingles undergo UL 2218 testing to withstand impacts from a simulated 2" hail stone hitting a roof at speeds seen in severe storms without sustaining damage. Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt technology provides superior Class 4 roofing shingle protection, which is the highest rating possible.

SCOTCHGARD™ PROTECTOR: HELP PREVENT BLACK STREAKSAlgae growth on a roof can cause black streaks, which can alter the color of your roof and make it appear aged. Shingles featuring Scotchgard™ Protector utilize 3M™ copper-containing granules and have been third-party tested for optimal coverage. Shingles featuring Scotchgard™ Protector help maintain the aesthetic appearance of your roof by resisting black streaks caused by algae and may reduce the need to clean your roof. Includes Malarkey’s 20-year Scotchgard™ Protector Warranty.

RETAIN COLOR GRANULESThroughout the day, roofs cycle through periods of hot and cold, causing materials to naturally expand and contract. Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt provides superior flexibility and granule adhesion to better hold granules onto the shingle. When granules stay on the roof, it provides lasting beauty and protection from damaging solar rays.

FLEXIBLE IN ALL WEATHERUnique roof structures and cold weather can pose obstacles during installation. Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt technology provides shingles with added flexibility to conform to unique structures. Flexor™ also ensures shingles remain flexible down to 0˚F (-18˚C), which is 40 degrees lower than the typical installation of standard asphalt shingles. This allows for application in a wider range of climates and on a wider range of architectural roof styles.

SEAL TO ROOFDriving winds can threaten to lift shingles from your roof if they are not properly secured. Malarkey uses three lines of specially formulated SEBS polymer modified asphalt sealant to help hold shingles in place during high winds. Polymer modified asphalt sealant from Malarkey is engineered with adhesive properties to join the shingles together and cohesive properties to prevent them from separating from the roof. SEBS is also flexible down to 0˚F (-18˚C), ensuring the seal remains intact through freeze and thaw cycles.

SUPERIOR SHINGLE STRENGTHShingles with Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt are more resistant to tearing and nail pull-out compared to traditional oxidized asphalts, reducing the risk of shingles blowing off in high winds.

HIGH PROFILE DESIGNCurb appeal can make a significant impact on your home. Windsor® XL shingles are 20% thicker than Windsor® shingles, with a 17% increase in overall mass. This extra thickness creates a more pronounced, high profile design to elevate the look of your roof.

FLEXOR™ POLYMER MODIFIED ASPHALT

Raw asphalt must be altered for use in roofing materials. For over 30 years, Malarkey has

been mixing a specially formulated blend of polymers with raw asphalt to produce our resilient Flexor™ polymer modified asphalt. This process retains more of the rubber-like characteristics of raw asphalt while

adding the enhanced characteristics of polymers, resulting in improved flexibility, granule adhesion, cold

weather installation, and impact resistance.

+ For complete Limited Lifetime Warranty details, reference Malarkey’s Shingle and Accessory Warranty. For Windsor® and Windsor® XL shingles, use of Windsor® Starter shingles are required for installation, and to receive Limited Lifetime Warranty protection.

* Malarkey hip and ridge shingles (10", 12" RidgeFlex™ or 8", 10" EZ-Ridge™ with Scotchgard™ Protector from 3M) are recommended for all Malarkey field shingles but required with shingles having Scotchgard™ Protector to receive Malarkey’s 20-year Scotchgard™ Protector Warranty. Some contractors adapt 3-tab roofing shingles to use as hip and ridge shingles; The Alaskan® featuring Scotchgard™ can be substituted as hip and ridge shingles for both the Scotchgard™ Protector Warranty and the Algae Resistant System Warranty from Malarkey. The use of Dura-Seal™ AR as hip and ridge shingles is only allowed when Dura-Seal™ AR is the field shingle.

** Shingles come with a Limited Wind Warranty but are eligible for an Enhanced Wind Warranty when additional standards are met: Smart Start™ starter shingles are installed, shingles are 6-nailed (including starter shingles; 9 nails for Windsor® shingles), and either EZ-Ridge™ (8", 10") or RidgeFlex™ (10", 12") hip and ridge shingles are used. Some contractors adapt roofing shingles to use as hip and ridge shingles. Use of The Alaskan® as a hip and ridge shingle will apply toward the Enhanced Wind Warranty. Dura-Seal™ (Nexgen™) shingles used for hip and ridge will qualify toward an Enhanced Wind Warranty only when Dura-Seal™ (Nexgen™) is the field shingle. Malarkey performance-driven underlayments – Arctic Seal®, Right Start™ UDL, or SecureStart™ Plus – are recommended for added system protection.
