Design For Play Snapshot

•.Design for Play, offers it’s unique expertise in designing play environments from our knowledge, experience, and understanding of how children play. Our overall objective is to create a more developmental play environment, providing children with many learning opportunities.

• Our most important objective is to make sure that your goals for the playground project are met, or exceeded. To ensure this we help you through the entire design build process. Our goal is to collaborate with you to provide detailed schematic drawings of your proposed play environment that can be used for public display, fundraising, and guided construction. We do not sell playground equipment, but offer unique play environments incorporating numerous developmental elements, and various playground components from various playground manufactures.

Outdoor Classroom Training

A Comprehensive program designed to introduce and develop play environment design skills for the child care professional

Outdoor Play Environment & Classroom Design Training

This workshop will focus on creating a total play environment for children incorporating art; natural areas, sand and water play as well as introducing non-traditional elements. The objective is to assist the participant in learning how to create a more natural play environment,

providing children with many learning opportunities by using the natural features surrounding the playground area. We will learn how to incorporate a variety of activities (stimuli) rather than a variety of equipment, and to facilitate children’s play value by the combination of setting, challenge, and opportunity, which facilitates fully engaged

exploration of the environment during independent, self-directed time.

Presented to: First 5 Kern and Madera Child Care Resources & Referral

Why Play MattersToo many kids are missing out on one of the most important childhoodexperiences: one that can help kids grow up healthy, happy and successful. An experience chock full of creativity, exploration, imagination, physical activity, friendship and adventure. The experience is PLAY. There is a nationwide scarcity of play and we are beginning to see a stark difference between children who play and children who don't.

• Kids who play are healthier, less likely to be obese and less prone to obesity-related health problems such

as diabetes and heart disease.• Kids who play do better in school. Play develops the cognitive skills that

are positively linked to learning and academic performance.

• Kids who play, play well as adults. Play builds confidence and teaches

the social skills that help kids become happy, well-adjusted adults.
