FRONT COVER

These were my first attempts at creating my real magazine front cover. I preferred the text size and colour on the right attempt, however I prefer the look of the left image and is a different photography of my original very first attempt from the shoot I did for media. The image on the left was from a recent shoot of my older sister who is a musician that plays guitar. I will proceed with different ways to layout text and

experiment with colour.

FRONT COVER

I then experimented with different coloured writing that I used in the other attempt from the previous slide and added more details such as more relevant information, page numbers

and a larger header.

Page 4: Design development

The image in both of these photographs is edited and cropped slightly different. The right is darker and slightly more zoomed in, I asked a number of people from my media class whi9ch one they preferred. Overall the response was that the preferred the left one

because its lighter.

FINAL FRONT COVER

This is my final front cover for my magazine. I have

designed this using Photoshop and followed my magazine plan PowerPoint in order to design the layout and style I want

to use.

These screenshots show the layers I have made to make up the front cover. It also shows the font, colour and font I have used for the header of the magazine.

CONTENTS PAGE

This is my first attempt at creating a contents page based on some of my earlier magazine analysis of Loud and Quiets contents page. Their layout was very simplistic and monochrome however had a colourful opposite page spread that juxtaposes the simplistic style of the contents page. However I wasn’t very keen on my attempt and think that the way in which I want my magazine to be represented and how I want it to look doesn’t suit this layout. I also want to use different fonts for my contents page from my style sheet. Therefore on my next attempt I'm going to experiment with a different layout and style.

Page 7: Design development

This was my second attempt as designing a contents page. I prefer this layout in comparison to my first

attempt because it looks more alike to actual published magazines with lots of contents, more pictures and different coloured text. I have kept the maroon, black and white colour scheme from my planning which I also kept to on my front cover. I wanted to do this because it’s a common trend of

magazines to keep a similar colour scheme throughout the magazine. At first I designed it so that the

writing was in a central format like the photograph shown below. To decide if this was the best design I looked at other magazine contents page and found

that most magazines have their text to the left not central. I therefore altered my design slightly to

the screenshot on the left.

CONTENTS PAGEThis is my completed contents page for my music magazine “stage and speaker”. I designed this on In design and edited my photographs on Photo shop. I wanted to include more of my own photographs from my contact sheets within my contents page. After looking through other magazines, including the ones I had earlier analysed I noticed that a lot of magazines have one page with the majority of textual information on and the other with large printed photographic prints. I edited the photos I wanted to use to fit the same colour scheme from my style sheet.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREADI’ve been experimenting with different fonts and text colours to see which one would go best with the double page spreads background image using Abode in design. I think for my double page spread I want to us a mixture of Perpetua tilting and orator STD so and keep the same colour scheme I have used throughout the front cover and contents page. For the contextual information I would like to use orator STD in most likely a size 12pt and my title font will most likely be Perpetua titling at a minimum size of 44pt.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREADThis is my finished double page spread and article for my magazine. I had issues in relation to the colour and layout of the text. When I tried different colours like dark red or black, it was difficult to see is against the background however when I tried white before I changed the layout you couldn’t see the writing in the white parts of the background. I solved this by moulding the text around the white parts. I also wanted the writing to not look as if its just been written on top of the image so I shaped the right column of text so that it fit around Amelia's shoulder. I however therefore didn’t stick to my original contents page dummy sample layout and instead used an image for the background instead of using set images on a white background.

This is my finished front cover, contents and double page spread of my music magazine. I have designed both the contents and double page spread on Adobe In design and my front cover as well as all my images were edited on photo shop.
