Margaret was daughter of Alexander Dunlop (1491-1564) and Ellen/Helen Cuninghame of Glencairn (b. abt 1511 at Glencairn, Dumfriesshire). Margaret was great great aunt of James Dunlop 2nd of Garnkirk (1633-1692) (H. Nankivell).Archibald and Margaret had following children:

George LYON. George married Mary ANDERSON, daughter of John Anderson, late Provost. John Anderson of Dowhill (b. abt 1611, d. oct 1684 (og)) was the eldest son of Ninian Anderson and Christian, daughter of David Dickson, burgess of Glasgow (pg). Mary Anderson’s mother was Barbara Gilhagie (m. 7jan1634, d. between jun1663 and mar1667, when John married again) (pg). Mary’s siblings were John (chr. 16oct1636, was Provost in 1689) and Janet (m. 25may1653 John Luke of Claythorn, d. 3nov1711) (pb). Janet was born 1635, her father was John Luke, elder (og). George and Mary had the following child: M George LYON. George was a ship captain and married Elizabeth GIBSON, daughter of John GIBSON of Overnewtoun(hg)/Overnewton(pg) and Jean WODDROP (daughter of James Woddrop, portioner of Dalmarnock) (pg), and sister of Walter Gibson of Balshalgry, late Provost (Hg). Walter Gibson, former Provost, (b. abt 1643, d. jan1723) (pg) may have bought the lands of Gilmorehill in 1720 (oc).

M John YOUNG. John married Grizel CAMPBELL, daughter of Colin Campbell of Blythswood (Hg). Provost Colin Campbell purchased the lands of Blythswood in 1670 (oc); it seems more likely that a son of Provost Colin Campbell (d. 11nov1670) bought the land (pg). Colin Campbel of Blythswood died jul1706, aged 69 (hg, p.206) The 2nd son of Colin Campbell, 1st, of Blythswood, was Robert Campbell of Northwoodside, Dean of Guild in 1679, whose 1st wife, daughter of John Napier of Kilmahew, Dunbartons, and sister of Countess of Glencairn, produced a child who married James Dunlop, 2nd, of Garnkirk. Robert’s 2nd wife was daughter of James Dunlop, 1st, of Garnkirk (oc). Nether Possil was sold in 1638 to Robert Vallange by the grandson of Robert Crawford. This Robert Vallange or

M Peter GEMMILL. Peter married Margaret HAMILTON, daughter of James Hamilton, Glasgow merchant; she died without issue. Peter also married Mary SCOT, daughter of John SCOT, Glasgow merchant, and Christian BOYD (Hg). Peter was a merchant, late Baillie and founder of wester-sugar-works (hg).

Margaret MORISON. Margaret married John MCKEOUN, son of Baron McKeoun of Stirlingshire.They had the following children:

M Peter MURDOCH. Peter was a Glasgow merchant, Baillie and provost. Peter married Mary LUKE, daughter of John Luke of Claythorn, Glasgow merchant (Hg). Peter Murdoch (28jan1670-15dec1761) married (1) 13nov1696 Mary Luke (b. abt 1678) and (2) 9apr1712 Ann ALEXANDER (d. 10jan1738) daughter of John Alexander (pg) of Glasgow and Janet Cunninghame of Craigends (st). Peter was b. and d. in Glasgow (og). Peter Murdoch (chr 13feb1670 Glasgow, d. 15dec1761, bur 19dec1761 Blackfriars church, Glasgow) married Mary Luke (b Claythorn House, chr 9nov1669, bur 5oct1710 Cathedral, Glasgow ) (kb). In the early 1700s Rosebank House belonged to Provost John Murdoch, son of old Provost Peter Murdoch and Mary Luke of Claythorn. His daughter Margaret married Lord President Sir Thomas Miller of Glenlee and the late 1700s Rosebank became the property of their son in law Provost John Dunlop, son of a Provost (Colin Dunlop of Carmyle) (Old Country houses of the old Glasgow gentry).

Peter GEMMILL. Peter married Margaret HAMILTON, daughter of James Hamilton. Peter also married Mary SCOT, daughter of John SCOT, and Christian BOYD, daughter of William Boyd of Portencross, Baillie in Glasgow, and Lilias Crawfurd of Cloberhill (hg).

Peter and Mary Scot had the following children:F Christian GEMMILL. Christian married James BLAIR, Glasgow merchant.

Their children died in infancy (Hg).F Mary GEMMILL. Mary married John HALL, younger chirurgeon of
