Dear Ms. Boyer-Vine and Messrs. Schmidt and Wilson:

California's Government Code Section 16724.4 requires the lead State agency administering any State bond measure approved after January 1, 2004, to provide an annual report to the Legislature with a Jist of projects funded from bond proceeds. The Jist is to identify the geographic location, the amount of funds alJocated, and the status of each project. The California Department of Transportation (Department) is the administering agency for the Proposition 1 B Public Transportation Modernization, Improvement, and Service Enhancement Account (PTMISEA). The PTMISEA includes $4 bi11ion with $400 milJion a11ocated to the Department for Intercity Rail and $3.6 billion to be allocated to regional agencies and transit operators for transit systems.

The full $400 million (less administrative costs) from the PTMISEA has been committed to Intercity Rail projects that will commence construction or procurement activities between August 2008 and December 2011. A total of approximately $530.2 million has been allocated to regional agencies and transit operators that are currently underway. The attachment provides a listing of the projects receiving this funding.

Distribution to the Legislature has been made by the Department pursuant to Government Code Section 9795. This report can be found at http://www.dot.ca.gov/reports-legislature.htm.
