Department of Management & HNU University of Applied Sciences, Germany HNU MBA International Extension Programme & Strategy live case study October November 2017 The Department of Management and FEMA have recently run and concluded the October 2017 Edition of HNU University’s MBA International Extension Programme. This intensive 2 week programme of applied management masterclasses, seminars and industry visits, is run by the Department bi-annually and rides on the back of a long-standing alliance and ongoing collaboration between the University of Malta’s Department of Management and HNU’s Department of Business and Economics. The programme includes specialist contributors from various FEMA departments, as well as practicing professionals. Over the two-week period, the German MBA participants were engaged on an extended strategy live case study. This practice-based business project entailed meetings, analysis and direct interaction with the top-management team of a collaborating case organisation addressing their challenges and dynamic realities, finally presenting a strategic review, findings and recommendations to the company’s board and management. This exercise also included participants ‘embedded’ within the organisation over a period of days. For this edition, Foster Clark Products Ltd. (http://fosterclark.com/), a growth-oriented family business specialising in powder drinks and baking aids, exporting to over 80 countries worldwide and currently celebrating 50 years of accomplishments, was the enterprise partner for the strategy live case-study. The Department of Management takes the opportunity to thank Foster Clark’s top management team for their active participation in this strategy exercise geared towards creating mutual value and opportunities for critical insight and learning. Other scheduled industry visits included Methode Electronics, Trelleborg and Actavis. Accompanied by their professors, the profile of this edition’s international cohort of HNU MBA participants from Germany included executives employed at international blue chip companies such as IVECO, Liebherr Group, Takata, TÜV-SÜD, and Euro Engineering; as well as other German SME champions of industry engaged in sectors spanning automotive, precision engineering, consulting services, electronics, legal, pharma, medical, software and marine / defence. In concluding this edition of the programme, the formal award dinner and certificate presentation were held at Capua Palace, Sliema. (Photos follow … ) Department of Management UNIVERSITY OF MALTA
