L&I-OIT Business Process Integration Software Shared Product Software
L&I has adopted webMethods as their business process integration software. webMethods is a solution when business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), business-to-government (B2G), middleware, job scheduling, and platform independent software is needed. Currently, webMethods is used by other L&I application systems as well as a separate batch address application.
CWDS uses webMethods as middleware for sending and receiving messages between L&I and partners; e.g., the Department of Public Welfare, OA-OIT, and GIS.
A. UCMS uses webMethods as middleware for sending messages between WebSphere Application Server (WAS), WebSphere Process Server (WPS), the mainframe, and various databases.
B. TRI receives XML from the Department of Homeland Security and uses webMethods to parse the XML documents and save them to SQL.
C. The batch address application uses webMethods to listen to a FTP directory, format the received flat file into XML, consume a GIS web service, and return a file to a directory with the cleansed addresses.
D. WCAIS uses webMethods as middleware for sending and receiving messages between L&I and partners; e.g., insurance companies.
webMethods is a highly scalable, multi-functioning messaging service that does more than messaging. For example:
A. The centralized B2B gateway provides a single point of entry for all B2B transactions, simplifying
architecture and complexity of deployment.B. Built on the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) platform, webMethods enables you to leverage the
platform’s integration capabilities and experience into any application or service.C. Role-based monitoring of B2B transactions enables you to control the data users can access and
the actions they can perform, helping to ensure security.D. Advanced monitoring tools enable you to easily manage transactions and gain visibility into the
transactions across your community of business partners.E. Centralized, role-based administration enables you to rapidly onboard business partners. Users
and partners can manage their own profiles in a shared infrastructure. F. Supports data transfer over a large number of protocols, enabling support for a diverse array of
application and partner requirements. G. Provides a common framework for a broad selection of industry-specific B2B standards.
Because of the scalable architecture allows support for a wide variety of solutions, from a single business partner to hundreds or thousands of business partners.
H. Easy-to-use development tools enable you to graphically map and transform data, simplifying the complexities of integrating with partners, and enabling you to rapidly build and deploy your integrations.
I. CentraSite ActiveSOA is the Business Services Repository for webMethods. CentraSite provides built-in support for webMethods assets and native integration with other webMethods products or components.
The following diagrams depict the webMethods v.8.0.1 infrastructure.
NOTE: L&I is currently in the process of upgrading from v.8.0.1 to v.8.2.2. At present, v.8.2.2
environments are being built and are being tested by the various projects. Diagrams have been included for the environments as built to this date. Our goal is to have the v.8.2.2 environment available by June 2013. DEV (Development) The webMethods Administrative Team maintains an enterprise development box that smaller projects can use for their development environment. This server will also host all packages owned and maintained by the webMethods Administrative Team. Each larger project maintains its own development servers for webMethods components. All new servers in this environment are built and installed according to enterprise standards before being turned over to the project for use. The CentraSite Active SOA (CentraSite) instance in the development environment is shared and is maintained by the CentraSite Administrator. All projects utilizing CentraSite will be provided an administrator role for work with project-specific objects in the development environment only.
