    Degree Regulations and Syllabuses for First Degree and Higher Degrees Curricula 2020-2021

    I write to submit the following proposed revisions for syllabus changes to take effect from the academic year 2020-2021:

    A. Syllabus Changes in the Geography and Urban Governance Programmes under Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree

    • GEOG3424 Urban development and planning: the Hong Kong experience -change in course learning outcomes

    • POLI3027 Public policy making: theories and application - To be re-titled as "POLI3027 The public policy process: theories and application" in the Urban Governance programme

    B. Syllabus Changes in BASc Degree

    "Cultures I Societies" pathway • "GEOG3414 Cultures, social justice and urban space" to be replaced "GEOG3423

    Urban studies: social and cultural perspectives" • "GEOG3417 GIS applications in public health" to be moved from "Physical World I

    Biological I Human Sciences" pathway as the course will be re-titled as "GEOG3417 Health, wellbeing and place in GIS", so that the "Cultures I Societies" pathway will have one GIS-related course

    • "GEOG2133 Cross-boundary movements and social integration" will be re-titled as "GEOG2133 cities and migrants". It is proposed the re-titled GEOG2133 course to be added to this pathway. .

    "Physical World I Biological I Human Sciences" pathway • GEOG3102 China: environment and sustainable development - To be re-coded and re-

    titled as a Level 200 course entitled "GEOG21aa Introduction to China's environmental and sustainable development issues", with change in course description

    • It is proposed to add "GEOG3213 Ecosystem services and sustainable society" and "GEOG321 4 Corporate social responsibility and environmental auditing" as both courses (a) will provide a societal perspective of environmental courses to this pathway, and (b) do not have direct conflict with the courses offered by the Science Faculty.

    C. Regulations and Syllabus Changes for MA in China Development Studies programme

    • GEOG3102 China: environment and sustainable development - To be re-coded as a Level 700 "GEOG713x China: environment and sustainable development" course specifically for the MAChDS programme as the course will no longer be cross-offered as an UG course in 2020-21.

    • GEOG71 20 Urban China: cultural basis and contemporary issues - change in course description, assessment ratio and course learning outcomes

    • GEOG7137 Land governance and development in China - to be re-titled as "GEOG7137 Land and housing in China" with change in course description, assessment ratio and course learning outcomes

    C. Regulations and Syllabus Changes for MA in Transport Policy and Planning programme

    • GEOG7011 Research methods in transport studies - change in course description

    D. RPg Coursework Requirement

    There is no proposed change to the Department's Rpg courses for 2020-21.
