Family partnerships with schools, staff and community organizations are not a luxury they are necessary for improving student outcomes. This workshop will explore creative models and best practices in Culturally Responsive Pedagogy on how educators can reach families that have historically been under-served. Strategies for bridging cultural, racial, and linguistic differences, as well as approaches for overcoming barriers posed by issues including language, cultural differences and immigration challenges will be presented. An interactive discussion among participants to unveil their own experiences, strategies and challenges for reaching under-served students and their families will be highlighted.
