Quotes from York College Graduates

“I was confident to preach because I was well prepared. Through York, I gained valuable knowledge of the Word, how to study the Word, and how to prepare for sermons. After graduation, the College and the Bible Department have continued to assist me in my ministry, which I deeply appreciate.”

— Jeff Schipper, Minister, NE

“There is not a day that goes by where I do not draw from my experience in the York College Bible department. The academic expectations, the wisdom of the professors, and the hands on ministry experience fully prepared me to face the demands and challenges of full time ministry.”

— Cliff Mullen, Youth Minister, WA

“My time and training at York College greatly prepared me to address the changes and challenges of ministry in a 21st century world. Through careful study of the text and a deep concern for the context in which the text is applied, I was able to leave York College more than adequately prepared for ministry and graduate school. But more than simple preparation, I was instructed in a way that has allowed me to see the world not as a place from which to retreat, but a context in which God calls me as a minister to engage in His kingdom work.”

— Mason Lee, Minister/Graduate Student, TX

“My time in the Bible department was more than just four years of learning information. It was a time of spiritual formation and genuine change in my life. Because of my time at York, and the growth I experienced, I had many great opportunities upon graduation.”

— Mark Smesrud, Youth Minister, TX

“I felt thoroughly equipped to enter the ministry field when I graduated. I can honestly say I’ve used just about every course somewhere along the line in my work as a youth minister and preacher.”

— Darrel Sears, Minister, OK

“When I went to graduate school, I was well prepared to handle the work load, to think for myself, and to respect the experiences of others. Perhaps more than anything, the Bible faculty showed me how love for the biblical message and love for the church intertwine in God’s kingdom. Their faith and passion continue to resonate in my own ministry and faith.”

— Lance Hawley, Minister, WI
