OPMI pico Product Updates

LED Illumination

More to exploreZEISS is excited to announce the introduction of LED Illumination for the OPMI pico. ZEISS LED Illumination provides consistently distributed, high intensity, true-to-colour light strongly resembling natural daylight allowing visualisation of fine structures. Rated at 85,000 Lux it is a very cost-effective lighting source and virtually maintenance-free with long service life. The heat output of LED Illumination is very low and requires little ventilation for cooling. As a result noise levels are also reduced.

LED is able to be retro fitted to all ZEISS OPMI pico microscopes.

Halogen - Standard illumination

For better ergonomicsThe Focus Knob of the Varioskop allows the user to variably adjust the focal length between 190mm and 310mm. This flexible objective lens allows full concentration on the area of interest while maintaining a comfortable, ergonomic working position. The large field of view allows a better overview of the entire oral cavity and improved orientation in both vertical and horizontal axes.

LED - Whiter & brighter light Xenon - Best performance illumination, brightest light available

Varioskop

For better integrationOPMI pico’s fully integrated video camera conveniently documents procedures in high-definition image quality, for co-observation, patient consultations and conference presentations.

Depending on specific needs ZEISS now has three different integrated HD Video Systems for the OPMI pico:• 720p image quality• 1080p full HD resolution and live video streaming via Ethernet• 1080p full HD for documentation and live video streaming as well as USB device recording possibilities

Sydney Dental Hospital Loupe Day

35th Australian Dental CongressZEISS was delighted to attend the 35th Australian Dental Congress in Melbourne on 3rd - 7th April 2013. This event was attended by four of our staff which were kept very busy on the stand. Our loupe display and microscopes had lots of interest and thank you to all who came to say hello and visited the stand.

Congratulations to Dr. Gerard Parkinson from Rockingham Dental Centre who won the draw to get an exclusive bottle of wine by answering the three new features on ZEISS OPMI pico!

Thank you to all who were patient in waiting to demo our loupes. If you did not have a chance to purchase during the conference and would still like to, please kindly contact Erin Jones on

02 9020 1306.

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming tradeshows!

Student Loupe EventsStephen Medcalf (Dental Optics Specalist) and Erin Jones (Dental Sales Support Administrator) recently attended Student Loupe events at both Charles Sturt University in Orange and the Sydney Dental Hospital. The students were eager to try out all the loupe options and even though piled up with plenty of information they knew how to ask the important questions about optical quality, service, comfort, etc. ZEISS values the opportunity to meet with these dental students and realise the expectations are high to provide a suitable package which will see them into many good years of service.

Overview

This course will emphasise your use of the microscope in every day clinical situations by the means of “hands on” exercises on extracted teeth and tooth models. A team approach utilising a chair side assistant will be emphasised, including training in four-handed dentistry specific to a microscope enhanced general practice. Each participant will have the opportunity to try different brands of microscopes to compare their features.

Those who use loupes should bring them to the course. Loupes should be considered the first stage of magnification. If you do not have loupes an obligation free trial can be arranged in your surgery before this course starts. Please contact Continuing Education for more information. All reference material will be supplied. Your presenters include both specialist endodontists and general practitioners, all with extensive microscope experience who look forward to sharing their knowledge with you.

Intent to Attend

This course is intended as an introduction to the microscope for dentists with no or limited experience in microscopic dentistry or those dentists who have a microscope but are experiencing problems with its use.

Tips and TricksCoaxial Illumination: The Secret of Superior Visualisation

The light coming from the light guide on the rear side of the microscope (Halogen, LED or Xenon) is reflected by an internal mirror through the lens onto the treatment area. The coaxial light provides shadow free illumination and illuminates cavities and root canals. The coaxial light of OPMI PROergo and OPMI pico in combination with MORA interface provides a shadow free light for homogenous illumination even in cavities or root canals. With coaxial light fine details are visible (1). Room light (2) or oblique light (3) produce shadows. Root canals or fractures in shadowy areas might be missed.
