DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL GHAZIABAD INTERNATIONAL Dec. 2016 CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition Two teams of DPSG International participated in CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition held at Uttam School for girls. 90 schools and a total of 150 teams presented their exhibit on six different sub themes based on “Science, Technology and Mathematics for nation building”. Vasu Agarwal and Dipanshu Dev Gangwar of class X presented their exhibit ‘Smart city’ based on the sub-theme ‘Innovation in renewable resources for sustainable development’. Lavish Daksh and Vansh Narula of Class VII presented their exhibit ‘Automated wheel chair’ based on the sub-theme ‘Health’. Both the teams emerged as winners in the regional level in their respective sub-themes and were selected in top 18 out of 150 teams and will be representing the school at the National Level. These young scientists of our school have also received some fabulous feedbacks from the eminent judges. Lotus Valley International School, NOIDA, in collaboration

with ScrapLabs, hosted ScrapLabs Fest 2016. In Explore-a-Thon Shubham of class III, Advik of class IV and Vishakha of class V bagged the second position for the school.

Festino Beats

Festinobeats 2016, was organized for students of classes Pre-Nur – Prep. The Inter School event consisted of a myriad of activities like fancy dress competition, Memory games, Finger art and Fun races. All events were for

mother-child participation and students from over 12 schools participated in the activities. The students and mothers participated very enthusiastically in all activities and pitted their skills against one another.

Skype Session Taking learning beyond the classroom, DPSG International organised a Skype session for Class 6B on 20th

December 2016 on Online Safety. Mr. Martin Bailey was the guest speaker. Students were told about the various online safely tips and processes. The students received firsthand information on various aspects of safe internet usage.

Proclamation and Carnival The Annual Proclamation ceremony to felicitate the achievers in scholastic and co-scholastic disciplines was held on

25th December 2016. Mr. Shiv Prakash Yadav, Jail Superintendent, Dasna Jail graced the occasion as chief guest and

awarded the winners with medals and certificates for their exemplary year round performance in academics, creative and fine arts, sports and discipline. He also inaugurated the Christmas carnival put up by the students.

The award ceremony was followed by a presentation the play ‘A Christmas Carol’ by students of classes VI-VII which

highlighted the inherent Christmas message of love sharing and caring.

Maths Week On the occasion of National Mathematics Day Math Week was celebrated in the school. Nursery - Prep played snakes and ladder, and a Maths lab activity on patterns and fractions was conducted

for classes I-III. For class 4 and 5, maths activities on measurement, shapes, symmetry and patterns was conducted A Mental Maths competition for class I-III and a competition on fun with shapes was organized for class IV-V

For classes VI-X a Formulae Writing competition and presentation on Vedic Maths was held along with a Sudoku competition for class IX-X. An Inter House Board Décor and an Inter House Quiz were also held as a

part of the week long activities.

Christmas Celebrations

The Primary wing celebrated Christmas with great zeal and fervor, with loads of fun activities. The students came dressed up in all Christmas colours of red and white. They made and decorated Christmas trees, Santa

Claus, socks and stockings, bells, stars etc. and were shown a play ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens presented by classes VI - VII. They were then given chocolates by Santa Claus and later danced and enjoyed themselves.

Visit to a Church

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to spread happiness everywhere. On December 22nd students of Nursery, Prep, Class I and II

of DPSGI were taken to visit a church Velankanni Matha

Shrine Kripapuram at Indirapuram. The children were very excited for the trip. On reaching the Church, they were

showed and informed about Jesus Christ, Christmas, Santa Clause, Bible and the various stories related to it. The

children asked lots of questions which were answered by the

teachers and they also offered their prayers in the shrine and had a really nice time. On returning, they discussed about

their visit and Christmas – why it is celebrated, the theme of Christmas (joy of sharing) and promised to share and care for

all, they were also shown video stories along with Christmas Carols.

Paridhi Project The students of DPSG International attended an

activity session conducted by organization Space as the Project Paridhi conducted by Space Outreach to celebrate winter equinox. The project was held at our

Heritage site Qutub Minar, New Delhi on 21st

December 2016. The students performed exciting science activities to measure the earth circumference

and celebrated winter equinox.

Inter House Basketball

An Inter house basketball competition was

also organized for the students of class VI – VIII

in which boys and girls competed in their

respective categories and Cauvery House

bagged the first position in the boys event

followed by Satlej in second position whereas

in the girls event Ganga bagged the 1st place

followed by Yamuna in the second place.

Inter Dpsgs Meet

The 1st Inter DPSGS Athletics Meet was held at DPSG Meerut

Road on 17th -18th Dec, 2016. All the DPSG Society schools participated in the 2-day fixture and showed their mettle

against each other. The students participated in various

athletic events like races, relays, high jump, long jump, javelin

throw, discus throw, shot put etc. DPSG International notched

up an impressive score on the final medal tally bagging 17 gold, 24 silver, and 36 bronze medals and securing the overall

Runners up position.

Spic Macay

In collaboration with Spic – Macay the school organized yet

another enthralling Kathak performance for the students by none other than the famous danseuse Padam Shree and

Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Ms. Shovana Narayan, a

well-known guru and maestro of Kathak. The recital began with the lighting of the lamp followed by

the Saraswati Vandana. The Principal Ms. Anita Sethi welcomed and felicitated the guest and her team and

thanked Spic Macay for organizing the Lec-Dem. Ms.

Shovana Narayan began her performance by addressing the students and urging them to be proud of their rich and varied

culture and spoke about the history and origin of Kathak as a dance form. Her recital left the audience spell bound. She

interacted with the students and explained the nuances of

various mudras and postures to the students and encouraged them to question her.

Traffic Vigilance Rally

The students attended the Closing Ceremony of

traffic vigilance month organized by traffic department at the successful culmination of the

month all over Uttar Pradesh. A grand ceremony

was organized on 1st December, 2016 at Hindi

Bhavan in Ghaziabad which was attended by all the authorities of traffic department and

presided over by Mayor Ghaziabad Mr. Ashu

Verma along with District Magistrate Mrs. Nidhi

Kesarwani, Commissioner Traffic and students of various schools of Ghaziabad. Our Students also

attended a rally to make people aware of traffic

regulations under the guidance of teachers Geeta Goel and Anurag Singhal.

Ngo Visit

Community Connect Club students of DPSG International celebrated Christmas in the true sense by spreading good cheer and happiness among some of the underprivileged children of our society. The students distributed stationery items among the inmates of the Bal Vikas Educational Charitable Society Raj Nagar

Ghaziabad on 21st December 2016, as a part of the ‘Joy In Sharing’ initiative started by the school on Children’s Day. Students from class V visited the NGO where they interacted with the inmates and distributed pens,

pencils, notebooks, art supplies and other material among the children. The students of DPSGI danced on the music along with the children of the NGO showcasing their talent in gymnastics and yoga. Further the importance and benefits of gymnastics and yoga were inculcated in the children as it keeps the body fit and

mind fresh. It was a heart-touching experience for the students as it helped develop a sense of empathy and societal responsibility among them.

National Science Center

Keeping in view the aspiration of an interface with Science and its activities, over 120 students of classes 6th-8th

visited National Science Centre at Pragati Maidan Delhi. The students began their tour with the gallery, “Water: The

Elixir of Life” where, they were told about the critical importance of water in our lives. In the “Heritage Gallery”, they

were given a glimpse of our precious heritage through exhibits about India’s contribution to Astronomy, Mathematics,

Chemistry, Medicine, Metallurgy, Art, Craft and Architecture. In the gallery of “Human Biology-The Miracle of

Human Life” all aspects of human body and its functioning were highlighted.

They also saw animated models of dinosaurs in the gallery, “Pre-historic life” and the evolution of Communication

Technology in the ‘Information Revolution’ gallery. They also visited the “Fun Science” with 137 interactive ‘hands-on’

exhibits. It was a fruitful visit and a great way to arouse young minds

1st Inter School Tennis Cricket Tournament

The DPSG International organized the 1st Inter School Tennis Cricket Tournament from 5th -8th December, 2016. 8 teams from various prestigious schools from the NCR region participated in the tournament organized

for player of classes I-V. The finals were played between DPSG Meerut Road and DPSG International and DPSG Meerut Road lifted the trophy and DPSG International had to settle for the second place. Aryan Anand of DPSG International was adjudged the Best Batsman and Tanishq of DPSG International won laurels as the

Best Bowler.

SSFI National Skating Championship 2016

Our students participated in the SSFI National Skating Championship held at the Achiever Skating Rink

Tiruppur Tamil Nadu where Anirudh Tyagi bagged1 silver and 2 bronze and Oshoteerth Bhardwaj bagged

a bronze medal in their respective races.

Superhouse Little Champs-2016’

Allenhouse Public School, Vashundhra, organized an

Inter School sports event for boys and girls of class III-V

Various sports event like 30Mtr. Dash race, skipping

race, tennis ball throw, zig zag race, crab walk race etc.

were held and our students won laurels in all events.

Provocation Activity To provoke inquiry based learning and provide a hands

on learning experience Class III Lotus was shown a video

on constellations and zodiac sign. They students

recognized their sun signs and drew the constellations on

pastel and black sheet. They also wrote down the traits of

their sun signs to which they could relate.

Visit To Botanical Garden The school organized a visit to ‘Botanical Garden’ and

‘Manav Aushadhi Park’ for classes Pre- Nursery to III.

This visit has promoted their experiential learning

and encouraged peer group interaction. Students

observed the variety of plants and trees and

showcased them in the form of pictorial presentation.

They also learnt the importance of ‘Medicinal Plants’

which are helpful in curing diseases.

On A ‘Cramming Free Approach To Deliver Computer Content’

Organized By Kips Publishers. The

Workshop Highlighted The Long Term Impact On A Child’s Memory,

Loa (Law Of Association) And “Technology In Education Through

Interactive Sessions.

Intra School Mun 2016

A two day Intra MUN was organized in school on 27th and 28th December 2016, which helped in bringing out the best in students and promoting the importance of improving communication and social skills and knowledge of international affairs and foreign policies by providing them with a fair platform for showcasing

their talents in MUNing and making them an asset for our country. Students participated as representatives of 22 countries and discussed the current problem of the South China Sea Dispute. They also discussed crisis of the Civil War. The two-day conference ended with the drafting of a resolution which was passed

unanimously.

Inter House Skating Competition

An Inter House competition was organized for the skaters of class VI –VIII to give them a platform to show

their skills. In the Boys event Dhairya Sharma of Satlej and Tanmay Parashar of Ganga of class VI won the

first and second positions respectively in the Quads category and in the Inline category for class VI Vedant

Gupta of Satlej secured 1st position and Chaitanya of Yamuna bagged the second place. In the Girls event for

class VI Ambrin Chaudhary of Ganga stood first and Udiksha Tyagi of Yamuna bagged the second place in

the Quads event.

For class VIII boys in the Quads category Oshoteerth Bhardwaj of Satlej stood first followed by Aarnav

Singhal of Ganga in second place and Shreyash Dube of Satlej in third place.

Taekwandoo

In the Inter House Taekwondo Competition the students participated very enthusiastically and pitted their

skills against one another to win laurels for their houses.
