Dustin was born on March30th, 1982 in Bismarck, NorthDakota to Jeff and Kathy (Wold)Bietz. He grew up in Beulah, NorthDakota where he was involved inmany sports including basketball,baseball, sofball, ootball and gol.Dustin was very competitive. Hehad numerous riends growing upand was always doing somethingspontaneous. He had a ree spiritand loved everyone. His care-ree,positive attitude wore off on anyonearound him. Dustin also enjoyedhunting and fishing with his amily;especially his Dad. Tey took a tripto the Bietz amily arm to hunt theopening weekend in November everyyear. Another avorite pastime wasgoing to McClusky with his cousinMitch and Uncle Pat. He enjoyedgoing to the lake and hanging outwith riends whenever possible. Hegraduated rom Beulah High School

in 2000 and decided to urther hiseducation at Minot State University.Tere he played college gol andgraduated with a Bachelor’s Degreein Computer Management Systemsand an Associate Degree in BusinessManagement.

He worked or Wells Fargo beorelanding his dream job with BurlingtonNorthern Santa Fe Railroad as a

Conductor.In 2006 he met the love o his

lie, Samantha Koski, and they weremarried on September 10th, 2011.Tey have two beautiul children; ason ayven Jeffrey who is our and adaughter Oakleigh Faye who turnedone year on December 7th.

Dustin was the strongest, mostloving person who never gave up.Even being diagnosed with leukemiacouldn’t bring him down. Troughthe hardest times in his lie he stillshowed strength, compassion,optimism, humor, love, and loyalty.Dustin was given a battle that noone should ever have to fight, but heought with pure determination towin.

Dustin was preceded in death byhis grandparents Arlee and Diane(Romer) Wold and an uncle MikeWold. He is survived by his wie Samantha(Koski) Bietz, a 4 year old son ayvenand a 1 year old daughter Oakleigh,all o Glasgow, his parents Jeff andKathy (Wold) Bietz o Beulah, North

Every year on December 1, people around theworld recognize World AIDS Day. Tis annual event isan opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate thosewho have passed on, celebrate victories such as increasedaccess to treatment and prevention services, and stampout the stigma wrongly associated with HIV. Tis year, World AIDS Day is being celebratedwith events throughout Montana, the nation, and theglobe. Tis year’s theme is “Getting to zero: zero newHIV inections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS relateddeaths”.

While the World AIDS Day theme is global in nature,we must also address it on the local level. Leadership in thefight against AIDS starts in amilies, schools, workplaces,places o worship, health care settings, and elective offices.ogether our collective voices can help. All o us can takethe lead.

HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. In Montana, 586people are living with HIV or AIDS, and 16-31 new casesare diagnosed each year. HIV may not grab the he adlinesanymore like it did at the height o the epidemic in the1980s, but it does threaten lives and loved ones right herein Montana. Tis devastating disease has taken the liveso more than 400 Montanans since 1985, and continuesto debilitate the lives o those living with HIV and theiramilies.

What steps can you take? First, learn your HIVstatus. An estimated 1.2 million Americans are livingwith HIV, but one out o five doesn’t know it. A newwebsite, www.GetCheckedMt.com , lists testing locationsaround the state so it is easy to find the nearest place to gettested or HIV and other sexually transmitted inections.Approximately 56,000 Americans are inected with HIVeach year and hal o them are te enagers. Be sure to talk to your doctor about ways to reduceyour risk o contracting HIV, like practicing saer sex.Help to educate members o your community about howthe disease is transmitted and how it can be prevented.
