FROM FR. QUINT

The solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin

Mary, patroness of the United States of America, is a holy day of obliga-

tion. Mass times are found here in the bulletin for Tuesday night and

Wednesday. This feast reminds us that almighty God preserved the

Blessed Virgin Mary from the stain of original sin from the moment her life

began in the womb of her mother Elizabeth. There would be no doubt

that her son, Jesus, was sinless as well since he was born of such a pure

vessel by the power of the Holy Spirit.

On this day we will close the observance of the Year of St. Joseph. We

offer gratitude to Fr. Tyler and the cluster liturgy committee for their

efforts to grow closer to this mighty saint over the past few months. I was

especially grateful for the procession held this spring at St. Joseph,

Earlville, as well as the pilgrimage to our cluster cemeteries. Hopefully

the talks offered by the priests during Lent relating to St. Joseph were

helpful as well.

Mary’s powerful intercession upon our nation, especially as the Supreme

Court considers a case regarding abortion. May her Immaculate Heart

triumph over this horrible evil and God’s mercy be poured upon all of

those harmed by this scourge. May healing come to those who have

chosen poorly and conversion to those who have hardened hearts.
