Beginners Polish GroupAre you interested learning Polish? The emphasis is on practical language use –
speaking and understanding. There is a facilitator (qualified lecturer) for
this group. It will be small; 8 members only. The Polish word for 'you' changes according to one's gender, so the group
would particularly welcome gentlemen as well as ladies to enable lots of realistic
language practice.

A Little Positive Discrimination! The committee are always looking to
improve and expand our U3A and would like to provide more interests groups that would be of greater interest to the men
amongst us.One idea that has been put forward is a
Real Ale Appreciation Group. If you have any thoughts on specific male orientated
interests, we would love to hear from you. Send us your ideas.

U3A Group Ethos
Please remember that the U3A ethos is about learning with and from its members. Once it is known how many members may be interested in joining a new group, an initial meeting will be arranged to discuss the formation of the
group and way forward. Note that, if no one is willing to lead or be part
of a team, the group will not take place.
Beeston U3A Needs You
Without willing volunteers our
U3A would not be so
successful.
If you have benefited from the
work of our Group Leaders
please consider becoming one
yourself.
University ContactsFor some time now, Beeston U3A Committee
have been trying to make contact with
Nottingham University with a view to forging
links between our group and the University.
Steve Austin and Richard Eddleston are
leading this initiative and despite sterling
efforts, have had no success so far. We
wondered if any of our members have any
contacts within the University that they could
put us in touch with to see if any progress can
be made. If you have a contact, please let
Steve or Richard know on
Participatory Workshops run by
National U3A at Local Venues
Volunteer Workshop.
We would like to run a National U3A led workshop for
members who would be interested in contributing
more to the U3A. This is aimed at those who feel they
would like to be a volunteer, perhaps be a group
leader, or assist in running a group as a team member,
but are unsure of what exactly is involved. This
workshop would also be open to current group leaders
who may like to find out more or get new ideas about
running their current group. It would be a day event,
probably in Spring 2017.
If you are interested in attending, please email Marie
Potts on [email protected] We will need 30
people for the event to go ahead.
