It is an extracurricular, informal, educational, youth program which serves the local high school girls in Baltimore. Its goal is to create an environment for frum teenage girls to express themselves through creative activities, fun events, Shabbatonim, discussion groups, learning sessions, and various artistic clubs. Bishvili has a team of volunteer trained advisors who attend all activities and work to build and maintain relationships with the girls. Since its inception, Bishvili has had over 500 participants in its activities, and over 50 volunteer advisors involved in the programming. One of our primary goals at Bishvili is to create an environment in which the high school girls can build positive relationships with our hand picked advisors. Upon applying for the position as advisor, each applicant goes through a personal interview and through a strict selection process, we ensure that each advisor is a suitable candidate for our program. Throughout the year, Bishvili conducts professional development for the advisors. In the past, they have been privileged to hear from Torah and Hashkafic personalities such as Rabbi Moshe Hauer, Rebbetzin Feige Twerski, Rabbi Motty Berger and Rabbi & Mrs. Lowenbraun. In these sessions, the advisors gain insights and chizuk to help guide the girls and enhance their leadership skills. At our weekly Café Connections program, the advisors create a warm environment where stimulating topics of discussion are welcomed and the girls feel comfortable to explore their rich heritage. Café ConnectionsOn a weekly basis, the staff and advisors of Bishvili get together at Dougie’s for some fabulous food and even better discussions. Lead by our esteemed advisors, the conversations revolve around topics of the girls’ choosing and always lead to dynamic and thought provoking discussions. This flagship event of Bishvili is truly an invigorating experience and a weekly opportunity for the advisors to connect with the girls and create meaningful relationships. This event is held weekly on Monday evenings and is free of charge.

“Bishvili is dedicated to helping high school girls discover themselves in an enjoyable and open environment.”—Anonymous 12th grader at Bais Yaakov

“Bishvili is awesome because it’s a place where you can discuss whatever is on your mind with your friends, other girls your age, and the Bishvili advisors. Bishvili has definitely helped me grow and become a better person.”—Chaya Lencz, Bnos Yisroel

“Bishvili’s warm and accepting environment makes everyone feel comfortable, allowing girls to talk about whatever is on their mind in a fun, Torah and growth-oriented atmosphere.”—Vivi Kelman, Bishvili Advisor

Makeup Melava MalkaHosted by Bracha Zahler, the girls of Bishvili were treated to beauty tips and skin care advice by a professional makeup artist. The girls received instructions on how to apply makeup in a refined and modest manner, while still emphasizing all of their unique facial features. A beautiful array of delicious and healthy food, including fondue awaited the girls following the makeup demonstration.

Bishvili New York ShabbatonAt the end of May, Bishvili girls were privileged to spend an exhilarating shabbos in Lawrence, NY. HaRav Moshe Weinberger of Congregation Aish Kodesh in Woodmere spoke to the girls on erev Shabbos. The girls got a real flavor for his warm, Chassidishe style through an inspiring talk about the majesty of Shabbos. Following an uplifting shabbos, which included a dynamic oneg hosted by the Wolfson family and exciting panel discussion at seudah shlishis, the girls enjoyed a Melava Malka at Le Chocolat of Cedarhurst and Rabbi Zechariah Wallerstein’s inspiring words on Sunday morning.

Swim PartyAt the end of the summer, the girls got together for an exciting swim party at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Michael and Linda Elman. It was a great way to say goodbye to the summer and see our friends before school started.

Rollerskating EventIn March, Bishvili rented out Hotskates in Timonium where the girls were able to skate to music of our choosing and enjoy a delectable brunch from Goldberg’s Bagels.

Bishvili’s Annual Melava MalkaIn January, the girls were treated to another exciting and vibrant Melava Malka. There was pizza and cookie decorating, music and dancing, a raffle for $50 to spend at the Towson Town Center and Rabbi Yitzchok Dinovitzer came to deliver an inspiring story with a powerful message.
