DEATH AND DISASTERS IN

ROMANTIC FILMS

OUR FILM Towards the end of our film plots, after Lily has been ill and achieving her life dreams, she dies, leaving one more wish on the list that was never completed.

The idea of this was to make the film emotional due to the audience hopefully developing a strong bond with the characters which is then destroyed once she has died.

The concept of not fulfilling all of your life wishes was to show that death can never truly be predicted and that we never know when these things may happen, so life has to be lived to its full.

OTHER ROMANTIC FILMS The notebook is an incredibly popular romantic film which includes scenes of death to rather main characters.

Charlie St.Cloud is based around the death of a main character, which creates the plot for the film, this is similar to P.S I love you, which with out death would not have a plot at all

OTHER ROMANTIC FILMS A lot of romantic films base their stories around dilemmas, for example, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is based on the break up of one couple.

The Vow’s main character loses her memory, which puts down a very romantic plot of a devoted boy friend trying to get back his relationship.

Finally, the very popular Four Weddings and a Funeral by the also very popular comedy writer Richard Curtis, has the disasters and dilemmas in the title.
