■ Why can‘t I log into an application?

Your user status is “inactive“, mostly caused by the email status attribute: as long as you have not verified your email address, your status will be “not verified“ – which leads to an overall “inactive“ status. Other reasons for inactivity: your user may have been blocked by an admin, the validity of your user is invalid, your home-organisation is invalid, …

■ User can`t login because the Login Mask will lead him to the verification process.

User has to verify his email address first, then he can login into the system.

■ How do I know wich User ID is the Main ID?

Within the account linking process, the Main ID is shown in the linking page.

After account linking, a GEMS admincan view the Main ID in the“LDAP-View“ in GEMS(see picture on the right)

With a later release, this will also bevisible in the user overview page.

■ I have multiple accounts with the same e-mail address. Which account will become Main account? Which account should I choose?

The first account for which you make the verification will become the Main account.

You can choose the account that fit‘s you best, there is no rule.

■ I have accidentially verified the „wrong user“ as first user/Main account.

Please sent a short email to GEMS Support, then they can reset the verification for this user.Then you can do the verification with another user, which then becomes the Main ID.

■ Can I change my Main ID?

Currently there is no function available, but this is planned for a future release.As a temporary workaround, you can request this at [email protected] GEMS Support will reset the verification for the user.

■ Where can I see which accounts are linked to my Main account ID?

Currently there is no function available, but this is planned for a future release.We will make this visible in the users overview page.

■ Where can I see the email status of a user?

The email status of a user can be seen in GEMS in the users overview page:

The email status will also be integrated in the GEMS user reports in the next weeks.

■ Why can I as a GEMS admin do not make a password reset for users anymore?

After the user has verified his e-mail address, a GEMS admin cannot reset user passwords anymore. A password reset then can be done only by the user in self-service in the Credential Management Tool via his e-mail address.

■ We only have one email for all/several users, what should we do?

Please create separate email addresses for every employee.

If your local policies allow, users can also use their private email addresses if they want.

■ Can a user also use his private email address for his account?

From a global Daimler perspective there should be no limitation, so in general this is possible.Please check your local user management policies within your market.

■ How can I change my email address after verification?

After the user has verified his email address, only the user is able to change the address via self-service*.*Self-service for users will be available in the new Alice User Self-Service Portal soon.Supplier users can also use the Supplier portal, corporate customer users can use UMAS.As long as Alice is not available, dealer users should contact GEMS Support.

What if I do not have access to my currently verified email address (e.g. forgotten email password)?

First you should check with your email provider to reset the email password

If this does not work or is not possible, you can simply change your registered email address via the self-service (see question before)

■ User did not received an email with the confirmation link.

User should first check his SPAM folder.

User should login again into one of the Daimler Plattforms and request a new confirmation link by starting the verification process again. Maybe the entered email address was wrong.

■ I have not verified my email yet. My email status is “unknown”. Can I as a user actively trigger the verification process without changing my email address?

No, there is no possibility for you as a user to start the process from your side.(except by changing your email address)The verification of the email addresses of users is planned to be done within stages.

If you do not want to wait until the stages, just send an email to GEMS Support.They will manually set your email status to “not verified”, so that your process starts.

Information about stages: All users in steps 2 to 4 will be sent to the verification process by manual changing their attribute value to “not verified“ by the central IAM team (in cooperation with the community responsibles)

□ Stage 2: 1st of May 2021Existing users, that currently do already have a “unique“ e-mail in GEMS(“Dealer“ and “Supplier“ community)

□ Stage 3: 1st of June 2021Existing users, that currently do already have an “unique“ e-mail in GEMS(“Corporate Customer“ (independent service provider) community)

□ Stage 4: starts mid of April 2021 and has to be finished 30.06.2021All existing users, that currently do not have an “unique“ e-mailStarting 1st of July 2021 the new password reset process via e-mail will be mandatory for all users

■ User states that he has already confirmed his email address

If you have the possibility to check in GEMS, please log in into GEMS and check if the value of the email status is “not-verified” or “verified”. If it is “verified” send an email with the Ticket Data to [email protected]

If the status is “not verified”, ask the customer to verify his email address again.If this does not work, send an email with all necessary data to [email protected]

■ User states that there is an incorrect email address shown after login.

User can change his email address in this dialogue and can verify the new email address.The new email address will be saved in GEMS.

■ I registered via B2Bconnect and verified my email address why do I have to do this twice.

The first email from Mercedes Benz B2Bconnect is for the verification of the Company Master Data.The second email is for the verification of your user account.Please confirm this email as well, your benefits are an even more improved standard for data security and the possibility for resetting your password simply via email.

■ I have my user since years and never had to do this.

Due to new Daimler Regulations it is necessary that every user has an unique and personalized email address which will be verified. The benefit is, that users can easily reset their password via email in the future.

■ I`ve got an error when requesting an verification email.

Please check the error messages on page 12 – 13 ;If this does not help, send the error message to [email protected]

■ How about GEMS Test- and Techusers? Must they also verify their email address?

GEMS Test- and Tech-Users receive predefined GEMS email addresses, when they are initially created. Because they receive non-personal email addresses, it is not needed, to verify them.

■ Can I change the email address of a Testuser?

Yes; Test-User email addresses can be changed – a change triggers the regular verification process.So Test-User can be used with personalised email addresses for application tests.The email address of Test-Users can also be reset to the initial value.

■ Can I change the email address of a Techuser?

No, Tech-User email addresses cannot be changed
