A Message of Life

Corpus Christi The Solemnity of the Body of Christ

No one comes to Church just to hear about God or to learn about the truth. Faith is not about knowledge only, faith needs to become a personal experience. We need to meet God and have a relationship with Him. Can we encounter God’s presence in the journey of our lives?

The history of salvation tells us that our God is not a hidden God. He walked along with His people to the promised land. He shared our human destiny and He “became flesh.” The fishermen of Galilea met Him, the sick experienced His curing touch, people saw His miracles and followed Him on the roads of Palestine.

Today’s festivity of Christ’s body tells us that we can still celebrate our encounter with Him. It is through a body that a person becomes alive and present to us. The body of Christ assures us that the words we proclaim in Church become flesh. “A ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

In our Sunday Mass we celebrate our encounter with the Lord. The presence of God becomes real and concrete for all of us. We can live our faith as a personal relationship with Him.
